McCaffrey Named ECC Women's Volleyball Rookie of the Week

AMHERST, N.Y. - Freshman setter Isa McCaffrey (North Royalton, Ohio) of Daemen College has been named the East Coast Conference Women's Volleyball Rookie of the Week for games played August 27 to September 2. The official announcement was made via the league's weekly sport report which was released this afternoon from conference headquarters in West Babylon, N.Y.

Playing in her home state for the first time as a collegian, McCaffrey racked up 136 assists over four matches at the Hall of Fame City Challenge hosted by Malone University this past weekend. McCaffrey's production was good for an average of 10.46 assists per set, and she led all players at the tournament in assists leading to her selection for the All-Tournament Team. 

McCaffrey opened the tournament by posting 31 assists in Daemen's three-set loss to Seton Hill University on Friday afternoon, and followed up with 34 assists in a 3-0 loss to the University of Southern Indiana. 

In Saturday's opener, McCaffrey helped Daemen to a 3-1 win over Notre Dame College by contributing 52 assists and 12 digs. It marked the first double-double of her career, and her first match with 50 or more assists. She would go on to notch 19 assists in the Wildcats' tournament finale, a 3-0 loss to host Malone.

Through the first seven matches of her career, McCaffrey has totaled 229 assists which leads all players in the ECC. She also ranks second in the ECC by averaging 9.96 assists per set. 

McCaffrey and the Wildcats (2-5) return to action at the Post Eagles Invitational this weekend (Sept. 8-9) where they'll face regional opponents Le Moyne College, Bentley University, Caldwell University and host Post University.
