AMHERST, N.Y. - Ali Greenwood (North Aurora, Ill.) of Daemen College has been named the East Coast Conference Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week for games played October 7-14. The announcement of ECC weekly awards was made this afternoon via the league's weekly sport report. It marks the second selection for Greenwood this season, and the fourth of her career.

Greenwood, a 5-foot-6 defensive specialist, averaged 5.57 digs per set over two matches last week. Her efforts helped the Wildcats earn a split of road matches against the University of Bridgeport (3-0 loss) and Southern Connecticut State University (3-1 win). Greenwood totaled a match-high 15 digs Saturday at Bridgeport, including the 1,000th of her career. She followed that with a match-high 24 digs Sunday at SCSU, marking her fifth match this season with 20 or more.

Greenwood has now recorded 10 or more digs in 45 of the last 51 matches, a stretch that dates back to her freshman season. Greenwood has totaled 1,026 digs in 73 career matches.

Greenwood and the Wildcats return to action tomorrow (Oct. 16) when they play host to longtime rival Roberts Wesleyan College. Daemen heads into the week with a 12-6 overall record and a 2-2 ECC mark.
