Wildcats Fall At #10 St. Rose

Boyar Inches Closer To Career Goals Record

ALBANY, N.Y. - The Daemen College women's soccer team suffered a 3-1 loss this afternoon to No. 10 College of Saint Rose in a non-conference game at the Plumeri Sports Complex. The loss sends Daemen to 8-3-2 on the season as the Wildcats have dropped consecutive games for the first time since early October of 2018. The highly-touted Golden Knights improved to 10-1-1 on the season.

Morgan Buchhardt started a goal-scoring flurry early in the game with her tally at the 7:16 mark off a feed from Nina Predanic.

Daemen would tie things up at the 15:01 mark when senior forward Jamie Boyar (Williamsville, N.Y.) took a through-ball from classmate Lindsay Ciaramella (St. George, Ont.) and finished from 12 yards out.

The tie didn't last long however as Predanic netted her 12th goal of the season at the 16:52 mark. The teams went to halftime with St. Rose leading 2-1.

The lone tally of the second half came off the foot of Saint Rose forward Olivia Boucher at the 61:07 mark. The two-goal lead was too much for the Wildcats to overcome as Saint Rose held a 26-6 advantage in shot attempts and a 12-1 edge in corner kicks.

Maddie Flores (Seattle, Wash.) made a season-high 12 saves to keep it close for Daemen. It marked Flores' second match this season and the fifth of her career with at least 10 saves.

Boyar's goal was her 14th of the season, and the 51st of her career. She entered the game ranked fifth in the country for goals scored this season, and also third in the country for career goals scored among all active Division II players. She now stands just three goals shy of the program record for career goals (54) established by Kim Walker from 2003-06.

Ciaramella's assist was her team-leading sixth of the season, and her first since Sept. 18.

Daemen entered the game allowing 0.72 goals per game. The three goals allowed today are a season-high, and the first time Daemen has surrendered more than two goals since a 4-0 setback in the East Coast Conference Championship semifinals vs. University of Bridgeport to end their 2018 season.

The Wildcats will return to Western New York for a key ECC showdown with rival Roberts Wesleyan College next Saturday, Oct. 26 at Karrer Field.
