Battlers Post 2-0 Victory Over Wildcats

PHILIPPI, W. Va. - Two goals late in the first half lifted Alderson Broaddus University to a 2-0 victory over Daemen College here today in non-league men's soccer action. Daemen dropped to 0-13-0 with the loss. ABU, a member of the Great Midwest Athletic Conference, improved to 6-7-1 on the year.

HIGHLIGHTS

  • The game remained scoreless until the 40th minute when the host Battlers got a goal from freshman midfielder Maurry Ibarra. It marked the first career goal for Ibarra. Senior forward Nevado Elliot assisted on the goal.
  • The hosts doubled their lead just four minutes later when Elliot converted a penalty kick. It mark the fourth goal of the year for Elliot, which ties him for the team lead.
  • The second half featured limited scoring opportunities, as the teams combined for just six total shots and three shots on goal.
  • ABU finished with a 10-2 edge in shots on goal.
  • Sophomore Eithan Hahn (Lancaster, N.Y.) went the distance in goal for the Wildcats and made eight saves.
     

GAME NOTES

  • Today marked the first-ever meeting between the two programs.
  • Today's game marked the fourth of five-straight road games for the Wildcats.
  • Daemen is idle until Saturday (Oct. 26) when it travels to rival Roberts Wesleyan College for an East Coast Conference game.
