Wildcat Keglers Host Penn State Behrend This Weekend

AMHERST, N.Y. - The Daemen College women's bowling team returns to action this weekend when they host Penn State Behrend for a trio of head-to-head dual matches at Classic Lanes. The action gets underway Sunday, Feb. 10 at noon from Classic Lanes.

The Wildcats are coming off a sixth-place finish at the Bowling for a Kure Tournament hosted by Kutztown University last weekend. Coach Carrie Racsumberger's squad posted a 3-6 record at the event, picking up wins over nationally-ranked Kutztown, Roberts Wesleyan College and St. Thomas Aquinas College. Sophomore Adrianna Pencek (Dunkirk, N.Y.) paced the team with a 19.9 pins-per-frame scoring average, third-best among all tournament participants which landed her on the all-tournament team. Pencek was also recently named to the East Coast Conference weekly honor roll. Last weekend's results have pushed Daemen's overall record to 13-19 this season.

Pencek leads the team with a 17.64 average across 130 Baker format frames this season. Rachel Steele (Rensselaer, N.Y.), Katlyn Newberry (Rochester, N.Y.) and Alex Syrotynski (East Greenbush, N.Y.) are also producing better than 17.0 pins per frame in Baker format matches this season. Steele and Syrotynski are also producing 18.73 and 18.46 pins per frame, respectively, in traditional format matches.

Daemen and Penn State Behrend have already met this season, splitting two matches as part of the Medaille Invitational on Oct. 27-28. Penn State Behrend struck first with an 816-813 win, but Daemen regrouped for the next meeting, winning 939-688. Daemen went on to place third in the final tournament standings.

Penn State Behrend has posted a 4-41 record so far this season. Sunday's matches are the first in a home-and-home series between the Wildcats and Lions. They will meet again in Erie, Pa. on Saturday, Feb. 16.
