The host Devils, members of the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference, dropped to 2-9. Daemen took a 1-0 lead in the match by winning two of the three doubles contests at the outset. In a new scoring format for NCAA Division II matches this season, the outcome of doubles matches will award a single point to the team winning at least two of the three matchups, as opposed to awarding points for each individual doubles victory. After Sciences' Nathan Nguyen and Borna Novak took the No. 2 doubles match with a 6-3 final, Daemen responded with wins of their own in the first and third positions. Williamson III and Fabian Wilde (Crimmitschau, Germany) evened things up with 6-4 victory over Jack Kosiorowski and Borna Markusic. It marked the third straight doubles win for Daemen's top pair. The Wildcats secured the doubles point when Milner (Ithaca, N.Y.) paired with Patrick O'Brien (Pittsford, N.Y.) to outlast Sahas Chandragiri and Evan Halperin by a 7-5 final. Daemen quickly increased their lead when play shifted to singles action. Ricardo Ruiz Martinez (Valencia, Spain) made his first appearance this season in the No. 2 spot in the lineup, and he made quick work of Kosiorowski, winning 6-2, 6-3. But, Sciences came back to even the match with wins by Markusic (6-4, 6-1) and Novak (6-2, 6-2) in the No. 1 and No. 3 singles positions, respectively. Daemen forged back ahead as Williamson III bounced Chandragiri in straight sets (6-3, 6-1) in the No. 5 position. The Wildcats clinched the dual-match victory when Milner won his No. 6 singles match 6-2, 6-3 over Rakesh Chamala. Sciences would add one more point to their total with a three-set victory by Nguyen in the No. 4 position (2-6, 6-3, 7-5). Daemen heads back to the I-95 corridor next weekend with matches in Baltimore and Washington, D.C. The Wildcats face Division I Coppin State University on Saturday, April 6, followed by an East Coast Conference meeting with University of the District of Columbia on Sunday, April 7.
