HIGHLANDER INVITATIONAL -- FULL RESULTS

HOUGHTON, N.Y. - The Daemen College women's track and field team took part in the Highlander Invitational this evening. The event was hosted by Houghton College. It marks the fourth-straight year Daemen has taken part in the event.

First-place finishes by juniors Savannah Warner (Elma, N.Y.) and Katja Meyer (Verona, N.Y.) and sophomore Nazjahe Boswell (Rochester, N.Y.) highlighted the night for the Wildcats. In addition, the 4x200 relay team placed first with a program-record time.

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Warner placed first out of 10 runners in the 600 meter run with a time of 1:46.53. It marks the third-straight year she has posted a top-five finish in the 600 meters at this event. She placed second with a school-record time of 1:42.54 as a freshman in 2018 and last year she placed fifth with a time of 1:44.02.
  • Boswell turned in a solid effort at this event for the second straight year. She placed first in the 60 meter dash with a time of 8.15 and also placed fifth in the 300 meter dash with a time of 45.02. It marks the 13th and 14th time over her brief career that she has posted a top-five finish in an indoor event. Last year Boswell set a program-record time (44.06) and placed third in the 300 meters. She also came close to breaking her own school-record of 7.96 in the 60 meter dash, as she placed third with a time of 7.98.
  • Graduate student Kathryn Yoder (Amherst, N.Y.) and redshirt freshman Samantha Ritter (Fairport, N.Y.) also ran the 60 meter dash and placed third (8.28) and sixth (8.53).
  • Redshirt sophomore Kassandra Nolet (Fort Erie, Ont.) continued her solid season, as she placed second in the mile run with a time of 5:30.73. Sophomore Sarah Golas (Alden, N.Y.) also took part in the mile run and placed eighth with a time of 5:53.51.
  • Freshman Alyssa Mercado (Ontario, Calif.) was one of four Daemen runners to take part in the 300 meter dash and she placed third out of 11 participants with a time of 44.45. Boswell placed fifth, while sophomores Alexis Villarrubia (Rochester, N.Y.) and Monahe Marchione (Buffalo, N.Y) placed ninth (48.14) and 10th (48.77) respectively.
  • Redshirt junior Shania Livecchi (West Seneca, N.Y.) and junior MacKenzie Tubbs (Elmira, N.Y.) took part in the 800 meter run. Livecchi placed seventh (2:42.17) and Tubbs finished 12th (2:52.07).
  • Freshman Courtney Merrill (Speedway, Ind.) was the lone Daemen runner in the 3,000 meters and she placed fourth with a time of 12:09.21.
  • Daemen's 4x200 meter relay team consisting of Boswell, Mercado, Yoder and Ritter placed first out of four teams with a school-record time of 1:51.59. They eclipsed the previous mark of 1:53.28 that was set during the 2016-17 season at the Brockport Golden Eagle Invite.
  • Daemen's 4x400 meter relay team consisting of Warner, Nolet, Livecchi and Merrill placed second out of three teams with a time of 4:38.09.
  • Meyer competed in three of the six field events today. She placed first in the triple jump (10.19 m), fourth in the high jump (1.41 m) and third in the long jump (4.82 m).
  • Yoder turned in a second place effort in the long jump and nearly set a new school record in the process, as her jump of 4.92 meters was just shy of the record (4.93 m) set by Meyer at last year's RIT Invitational. Redshirt freshman Natalie Menz (Lyndonville, N.Y.) and Villarrubia also took part in the long jump and placed fifth (4.50 m) and sixth (4.43 m).
  • Senior Taylor Haude (Rochester, N.Y.) turned in a top-five finish in the pole vault, as she placed third out of eight competitors with a leap of 3.05 meters.
  • Senior Hannah Miller (Seneca Falls, N.Y.) turned in strong efforts in both the shot put and the weight throw. She was the top Daemen finisher in the shot put and placed fourth overall (9.35 m), and placed fifth in the weight throw (12.19 m).
