Wildcat Cheerleaders Claim First Place At Fredonia Competition 1/26/2020 5:18:00 PM FREDONIA, N.Y. - The Daemen College cheerleading team claimed first place at the Fredonia Cheer and Dance Competition hosted by the State University of New York at Fredonia today at Steele Hall. The event featured separate divisions for competing high school and collegiate teams, and is traditionally one of the largest cheer and dance competitions each year in Western New York. The Daemen cheerleading team, under the direction of head coach Brianna Aichinger, was judged to have the best two-minute routine among college teams entered in today's championship competition. The Wildcats' routine combined traditional cheerleading stunts with dancing, jumping and tumbling. The competition marked Daemen's first of the 2019-20 season, and it's the Wildcats' fourth first-place finish in as many events since the start of last season. Daemen's cheerleading team was elevated from club to varsity status prior to the 2018-19 academic year. Daemen College features the only NCAA Division II athletics program in the Buffalo-Niagara region, sponsoring 17 intercollegiate teams.
