ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. -- The Daemen University cheerleading team earned their second straight first-place team finish at the Queen City Championship at the Buffalo Bills fieldhouse over the weekend, topping three-time NCA champion Elmira in the competition.
Even with a Daemen athlete still out with an injury, the Wildcats put in the work last week after earning their first top-finish of the season at the Great Lakes Championship, putting together a winning combination of new stunts and formations. Daemen hit zero in Saturday's competition -- finishing the routine with zero reductions in score -- and the excitement and energy showed on the faces of the hardworking Wildcats. At the end of the day, the Wildcats received a second-place finish, but after a judging error Daemen actually finished in first!
The Wildcats repeated with a first-place finish on Sunday after going up against the score to move to 2-0 on the season. Daemen will travel to Syracuse, N.Y. this upcoming weekend to compete in the I LOVE NY National Championship on Sunday, March 17.
Daemen University features the premier NCAA Division II athletics program in the Buffalo-Niagara region, sponsoring 17 intercollegiate teams.
