AMHERST, N.Y. - Daemen College head men's soccer coach Bediako Swan has announced the addition of goalkeeper Marcos Lerma Escobar (Zaragoza, Spain) to the Wildcats' roster effective immediately. Lerma Escobar is enrolled in classes at Daemen after transferring from nearby Medaille College.

"Based on his level of play in Spain and the great things that coach [Craig] Wilkinson at Medaille had to say about him, I believe Marcos will be a great fit for our program here at Daemen," said Swan.

Lerma Escobar, who stands 5-foot-10, will have two seasons of remaining eligibility for the Wildcats. The Spaniard appeared in 11 games over two seasons at Medaille, helping the Mavericks' Division III program to a 25-11-4 overall record in that span. He allowed just two goals and had a 0.99 goals against average in 2018, and followed up this past season with a .781 save percentage and two shutouts.

In addition, Lerma Escobar earned Academic All-Conference accolades from the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference last spring. He is planning to study business administration at Daemen.

Daemen College features the only NCAA Division II athletics program in the Buffalo-Niagara region, sponsoring 17 intercollegiate teams.
