OFFICIAL ECC RELEASE AND FULL RESULTS
STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. - The Daemen College women's track and field team closed out its 2019-20 indoor season here tonight, competing in the East Coast Conference Championships held at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex. The Wildcats finished eighth in the team standings out of 10 teams, compiling 27.50 points. Georgian Court University accumulated 150 points to win the conference championship for the second-straight year.
HIGHLIGHTS
- Six different Wildcats posted a top-five finish tonight.
- Redshirt sophomore Kassandra Nolet (Fort Erie, Ont.) capped off a solid indoor season, as she placed third out of 12 runners in the 5,000 meter run with a personal-best time of 18:33.07. She eclipsed her previous best time of 18:42.93, which earned her a first-pace showing at the Brockport Multi two weeks ago. Nolet has now posted a top-five finish in each of Daemen's five meets this season.
- Sophomore Sarah Golas (Alden, N.Y.) also took part in the 5,000 meter run and placed sixth with a personal-best time of 19:45.38.
- Junior Savannah Warner (Elma, N.Y.) was one of four Daemen runners to take part in the 1,000 meter run and she placed fourth out of 14 entrants with a personal-best time of 3:11.76. It marks the fourth-straight meet she has posted a top-five finish. Junior Taya Mucha (Lockport, N.Y.), redshirt junior Shania LiVecchi (West Seneca, N.Y.) and junior Mackenzie Tubbs (Elmira, N.Y.) also took part in the 1,000 meter run. Mucha placed ninth (3:27.62), LiVecchi placed 12th (3:39.09) and Tubbs finished 13th (3:40.40).
- Sophomore sprinter Nazjahe Boswell (Rochester, N.Y.) placed fifth in the 60 meter dash with a time of 8.03, while freshman Alyssa Mercado (Ontario, Calif.) placed 20th in the 200 meter dash (27:54).
- Junior Danielle Juby (Ilion, N.Y.) and sophomores Alexis Villarrubia (Rochester, N.Y.) and Monahe Marchione (Buffalo, N.Y) represented Daemen in the 400 meters and finished eighth (1:08.64), ninth (1:09.2) and 10th (1:09.26) respectively.
- Freshman Courtney Merrill (Speedway, Ind.) also posted a top-10 effort during the track events for Daemen, as she placed ninth in the 3,000 meters with a personal-best time of 11:25.25.
- Junior Katja Meyer (Verona, N.Y.) competed in two of the six field events tonight. She placed fifth in the high jump (1.40 m) and 10th in the triple jump (10.16 m).
- The long jump featured four Wildcats. Graduate student Kathryn Yoder (Amherst, N.Y.) placed 13th (4.38 m), Villarrubia placed 14th (4.28 m), Juby placed 16th (4.24 m) and redshirt freshman Natalie Menz (Lyndonville, N.Y.) finished 17th (4.20 m).
- Senior Taylor Haude (Rochester, N.Y.), who set the conference record in the pole vault (3.26 m) two years ago and placed first last year with a leap of 3.20 meters, finished third this year. Laura Herbes of St. Thomas Aquinas College, Hannah Gravante of Georgian Court and Haude all cleared 3.20 meters, but Herbes cleared it on her first attempt and was named the winner.
- Junior Betty Jones (Camillus, N.Y.) and senior Hannah Miller (Seneca Falls, N.Y.) both turned in solid showing during the throwing events. Jones placed third out of 19 competitors in the weight throw with a personal-best toss of 12.92 meters. She also finished 13th in the shot put (8.81 m). Miller finished seventh in the weight throw (11.89 m) and ninth in the shot put (9.70 m).
- Daemen also took part in the distance medley and the 4x400 relay. The team of Merrill, LiVecchi, Mucha and redshirt freshman Emily Shea (East Amherst, N.Y.) placed seventh in the distance medley with a time of 13:51.39. The team of Boswell, Mercado, Yoder and Warner placed sixth in the 4x400 relay with a time of 4:17.26.

Daemen is idle until March 27 when it opens the outdoor season by taking part in the Buffalo Invitational hosted by the University at Buffalo.
