Men's Basketball Schedule Update Postponed Games Vs. D'Youville Rescheduled 1/21/2021 10:24:00 AM AMHERST, N.Y. - Postponed men's basketball contests between Daemen and D'Youville have been rescheduled for next month, Daemen head coach Mike MacDonald announced today. The Wildcats and Saints were originally scheduled to meet twice this coming weekend before a positive COVID-19 test result within Daemen's Tier 1 personnel forced a 10-day pause in team activities. The game scheduled for Friday, January 22 at Lumsden Gymnasium has been moved to Wednesday, February 24 (6 p.m.). The game scheduled for Sunday, January 24 at D'Youville's College Center Gymnasium has been moved to Monday, February 15 (6 p.m.). Having not played since 2004, Daemen and D'Youville will meet three times in a span of 14 days. The teams' originally scheduled game for Wednesday, February 10 (6 p.m.) at Lumsden Gymnasium remains unaffected by today's rescheduling announcement. D'Youville, located just nine miles from Daemen, is in its first year as a member of the East Coast Conference as it transitions from Division III to Division II. In addition, scheduled games for February 5 and 7 at Roberts Wesleyan are shifting by one day each. The Wildcats will visit their long-time rivals from Rochester instead on Saturday, February 6 (1 p.m.) and again on Monday, February 8 (7 p.m.). Daemen, which paused all team activities on January 15, will resume practice next week provided all Tier 1 personnel are cleared through Daemen's COVID-19 protocols. The NCAA defines Tier 1 personnel as all student-athletes, coaches, team managers and support staff. Daemen's revised schedule includes 12 games in a span of 31 days, beginning Friday, January 29 when they host Gannon. Tip-off is slated for 6 p.m. and it will end a 328-day gap between games for the Wildcats. Daemen College features the premier NCAA Division II athletics program in the Buffalo-Niagara region, sponsoring 17 intercollegiate teams.
