BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Daemen College men's and women's cross country teams return to action today at the prestigious Paul Short Run hosted by Lehigh University on its Murray H. Goodman Campus. One of the premier meets in the country, the Paul Short Run features 12 total races ranging from men's and women's open competitions to high school races for boys and girls. Daemen's teams are slated to compete in the men's and women's college white races, with the men hitting the starting line at 1:45 p.m., followed by the women at 2:30 p.m.

The Daemen men are at full strength for the first time since the Daemen Duels on September 11. They've been led so far this season by sophomore Jon Moote (Wilson, N.Y.) who has been the team's top finisher in each of the last two meets. Moote placed first at the Daemen Duels en route to earning East Coast Conference Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week honors. He went on to place 40th at last weekend's Harry F. Anderson Invitational - a meet that featured 18 teams and 199 competitors. Moote shaved more than a minute off his 8K time from the Daemen Duels, as did classmate Connor O'Brien (Hamburg, N.Y.) who earned a top-100 finish. The Wildcats placed 11th as a team.

The men's white race at the Paul Short Run includes a mixture of Division II and III squads - 31 teams in all. Daemen is one of five NCAA Division II East Region teams competing, a group that includes Jefferson, the No. 9 ranked team in this week's U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) regional poll. Dickinson headlines the competing Division III teams as they come in ranked 32nd in the USTFCCCA national poll.

The Daemen women are looking to make another statement after a strong showing at the Harry F. Anderson Invitational - the biggest meet of the season to date. The Wildcats ran to a fifth-place finish, edging out regionally ranked teams such as Adelphi and Felician. The duo of Kassandra Nolet (Fort Erie, Ont.) and Marcy Colca (Getzville, N.Y.) led the way once again, placing 11th and 12th respectively in a field of 184 runners. Nolet and Colca, who placed first and second respectively at the Daemen Duels, are the first pair of Daemen teammates to run sub-19-minute 5K times in back-to-back races since Mackenzie Donahue and Amy Trabert who did so during the 2016 season.

Similar to their male counterparts, the women's white race at the Paul Short run will have 39 teams competing, all from the Division II and III ranks. Six NCAA Division II East Region squads (Bentley, Daemen, Jefferson, Molloy, Southern Connecticut State, U. Sciences) are in the field.
