Today, it was a goal surrendered in the 68th minute that proved to be the difference as the Wildcats dropped a 1-0 final to visiting Molloy in East Coast Conference action at Karrer Field. The Wildcats fell to 2-6-0 overall and 1-3-0 in conference play despite out-shooting the Lions 17-9 in the contest. Daemen placed seven shots on frame, but Molloy goalkeeper Nick Conklu was up to the task on each as he picked up his fourth win of the season. Molloy got on the board when Jesse Schleeper netted his first goal of the season. Schleeper found the back of the net after taking a feed from Elia Krieger at the 67:41 mark. The tally paved the way for Molloy to improve to 5-3-1 overall while also remaining unbeaten (4-0-0) in ECC play. Daemen launched five game-tying attempts in the waning minutes of the contest, but none found the mark. Alexander Khademi (Stockholm, Sweden) had the best effort, but his Conklu stopped his shot to the lower right in the 90th minute. Marcos Lerma Escobar (Zaragoza, Spain) registered four saves for the Wildcats. The loss, Daemen' fourth straight, was the latest in a string of tight contests for the Wildcats. In the last eight days alone, they've dropped three games despite allowing only four total goals. On the flip side, Molloy has won straight games, outscoring opponents 5-1 in that span. Today's result marked their third straight 1-0 win. Daemen will look to jump back in the win column next Saturday, October 9 when they host St. Thomas Aquinas. Daemen College features the premier NCAA Division II athletics program in the Buffalo-Niagara region, sponsoring 18 intercollegiate teams.
