Arthur Dejengue Bille (Paris, France) got Daemen on the board first, scoring in the 15th minute of the contest off a crossing feed from junior defender Derek Bartlo (Williamsville, N.Y.). Bartlo's feed passed another teammate streaking into the box and made its way to Djengue Bille at the back post. The Paris native completed the play and has now scored in three straight games. Mercy was able to get the equalizer in the 30th minute as Pau Echarri scored his sixth goal of the season after taking a pass from Rainiero Salas. The teams continued to battle, but went scoreless over the next 70 minutes, taking the game to overtime. In the opening minute of the second overtime period, David Breitenbach notched the "golden goal", scoring off a feed from Archie Jones. Mercy launched 31 shots in the game, placing 12 on frame. Daemen goalkeeper Marcos Lerma Escobar (Zaragoza, Spain) was stellar throughout, finishing with a season-high nine saves. Djengue Bille is now tied for the team lead in goals (3) and leads outright with eight points this season. The result marked the Wildcats' second overtime loss of the season. Daemen has dropped five straight overtime decisions, last winning an overtime game on Oct. 18, 2017 (3-2 over Queens). The loss dropped the Wildcats to 4-10-0 this season, including a 2-6-0 mark in East Coast Conference play. Mercy kept their postseason hopes alive, improving to 4-2-2 in the conference (14 points) and 8-4-2 overall. Daemen returns to action Tuesday (Nov. 2) with a non-conference game at Lock Haven - the penultimate contest of their 2021 season.
