LODI, N.J. - The Daemen College women's bowling team closed out play at the Falcon Fall Classic today. The two-day event was hosted by Felician University and took place at Lodi Lanes. The tournament featured 11 schools: Daemen, Felician, Adelphi University, Bloomfield College, Caldwell University, D'Youville College, Fairleigh Dickinson University, Molloy College, St. Francis University (Penn.), St. Thomas Aquinas College and Wagner University.
The Wildcats ended up winning four of 10 matches over the two days and finished in fourth place with 8,400 total pins. Nationally-rankled Fairleigh Dickinson topped the field with 9,284 total pins. Nationally-ranked Adelphi placed second (8,933), while Caldwell (8,540), Daemen and Felician (8,396) rounded out the top five. Daemen now stands at 18-21 on the year.
Junior Caitlyn Nowak (West Seneca, N.Y.) placed 10th in the individual standings, as she posted a 176.8 average during the five traditional matches played Saturday. Nowak rolled a pair of 200 games on Saturday. She hit 200 on the button in an 847-836 win over Molloy, and had her best outing of the day with a 203 in an 884-806 loss to Caldwell.
HIGHLIGHTS
- Daemen entered day two in fourth place with 4,226 total pins.
- All of today's matches were scored using Baker Format.
- Daemen opened the day with an 846-661 win over St. Thomas Aquinas, but the Wildcats went winless the rest of the day with losses to No. 25 Adelphi (868-803), St. Francis (887-826), No. 8 Fairleigh Dickinson (914-869) and Bloomfield (876-830).
- Daemen and St. Thomas Aquinas split their first two games and the Wildcats held a slim 276-240 lead heading into game three. The Wildcats increased their lead to 61 pins following a 201-176 win in game three and cruised to the 846-661 victory.
- Daemen jumped out to a 198-146 victory in game one against nationally-ranked Adelphi, but the Panthers rebounded with a 192-119 win in game two. Daemen cut the Adelphi lead to just two pins (490-488) after the Wildcats posted a 171-152 win in game three, but the Panthers regained control with a 211-132 win game four. Daemen posted a 183-167 win in game five, but it was not enough the overcome the 81 pin lead the Panthers had built.
- Like the Adelphi match, Daemen won three of the five games against St. Francis, but the Red Flash put up big wins in game one and three to secure the victory. St. Francis opened the match with a 221-143 victory, and later opened up a 145-pin lead (605-460) after a 222-137 win in game three. Daemen closed out the match with wins in game four (178-119) and game five (188-163).
- Fairleigh Dickinson won four of the five games en route to a 914-869 victory. The Wildcats found themselves down 80 pins (398-318) after just two games and the Knights later increased their lead to 100 pins (750-650) after four games. Daemen closed out the match with a solid 219-164 victory in game five. The 219 pins in game five was a team-high for the Wildcats on the day.
- The day came to a close with a hard fought setback to Bloomfield. The Wildcats opened the match with a 186-122 win in game one, but Bloomfield answered with a 211-124 victory in game two. The teams battled to a 17-178 tie in game three and the Bears took a slim 23-pin lead (511-488) lead into the final two games. Bloomfield edged the Wildcats 177-173 in game four, and the Bears secured the win with a 188-169 victory in game five.

The Wildcats are idle until Dec. 4 when they travel to Pitt-Bradford for a dual match.
