Women's Bowling Caps Fall Season With Win at Pitt-Bradford

Nowak Leads The Way With A 190 Average

BRADFORD, Pa. - The Daemen College women's bowling team closed out the fall portion of its 2021-22 schedule this afternoon by winning two out of three games during a dual match with the University of Pittsburgh—Bradford. The match took place at Byllye Lanes. The Wildcats suffered an 864-847 loss in the opening game, before posting back-to-back wins in games two (900-769) and three (861-856) to complete the comeback win. All three games were scored using the traditional match format.

Daemen is now 20-22 on the year, while the host Panthers stand at 15-14. Daemen has now prevailed in 12 of the 13 all-time meetings between the two programs.

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Junior Caitlyn Nowak (West Seneca, N.Y.) capped off a strong fall season by averaging a team-high 190 today. Her 195 in game two was the highest score by a Daemen bowler today. She also rolled a 181 in game one and capped the the day with a 193 in game three.
  • Senior Christina Aldridge (Webster, N.Y.) and sophomore Mollie Gizicki (Brighton, Mich.) both competed in all three games and both finished with a total pin fall of 534. Aldridge posted her highest score of the day (180) during game one, and followed up with back-to-back games of 177. Gizicki rolled a 191 in the opening game, and followed up with a 177 in game two and a 166 in game three.
  • Graduate student Alex Hasiotis (Rochester, N.Y.) also saw action in all three games and posted a total pin fall of 497. Her high game was a 182 in game two. Junior Nicole Bergeron (Lima, N.Y.) appeared in the first two games, while sophomore Emma Smith (Williamsville, N.Y.) saw action in game three. Bergeron rolled a 148 and a 169, while Smith posted a 157.

UP NEXT

Daemen is now idle until Feb. 12 when it travels to St. Vincent College in Latrobe, Pa. for a dual match.
