KENMORE, N.Y. - The Daemen College women's bowling team won one of three matches against Medaille College this evening at Classic Lanes. The Wildcats opened the evening with a 1,024-986 loss in a traditional match. The final two matches were scored using the Baker total pin fall format. Daemen took match two (952-948), before Medaille closed out the evening with a 924-832 win in match three.
Daemen is now 2-4 this season, while Medaille goes to 4-2.
Sophomore Paige Bartosz (West Seneca, N.Y.) rolled a team-high 230 during Daemen's loss in the traditional match. Junior Christina Aldridge (Webster, N.Y.) also broke the 200 barrier for the Wildcats, as she rolled a 212. Seniors Adrianna Pencek (Dunkirk, N.Y.) and Alex Syrotynski (East Greenbush, N.Y.) and sophomore Caitlyn Nowak (West Seneca, N.Y.) also competed for the Wildcats during the traditional match. Pencek bowled a 185, while Syrotynski posted a 180 and Nowak contributed a 179.
Daemen trailed by 52 pins (762-710) heading into the fifth and final game of the first Baker format match, but the Wildcats rallied and posted a 242-186 victory in the fifth game to secure the win by just four pins. Medaille won four of the five games in the third match to close out the night. The Mavericks have now prevailed in seven of the last 10 meetings between the two cross-town rivals.
Daemen returns to action Sunday (Feb. 21) afternoon when it hosts a tri match with Medaille and Roberts Wesleyan College at Manor Lanes II in Amherst, N.Y.
