Both matches were 3-0 finals as the Wildcats cruised through play without dropping a set (25-12, 25-14, 25-17; 25-15, 25-2,1 25-17). With the victories today, Daemen improved to 6-0 this season and extended their winning streak to eight straight matches dating back to March 6, 2020. It marks the longest winning streak in the brief three-year history of the program. Coach Don Gleason's squad carries a 24-3 record in sets over the course of the winning streak, including an 18-3 mark this season. It also marked Daemen's third win in as many matches against Elmira this season. Daemen had previously swept the Soaring Eagles in straight sets at Lumsden Gymnasium on Feb. 26. Elmira is a member of NCAA Division III and the United Volleyball Conference, and the Soaring Eagles dropped to 0-8 this season. IMPACT PLAYERS - MATCH #1 Ryan Parker (Fairport, N.Y.) led a balanced Daemen offense by powering down a match-high 10 kills in 18 attempts (.444 hitting percentage). Parker added a match-best 11 digs to record his second double-double of the season. Parker Wade (Portland, Ore.) equaled his career-high with nine kills, and did so without committing an error (.750 hitting percentage). Jake Couzens (Hamburg, N.Y.) and Robert Patzer (Liverpool, N.Y.) tossed in seven kills apiece. Patzer shared match-high honors with three service aces as well. Setters Michael Krueger (Canonsburg, Pa.) and Gavin Musielak (Eden, N.Y.) split time in match number one, combining for 32 of Daemen's 34 assists (Krueger 21, Musielak 11). Eric Jackson paced the Soaring Eagles with eight kills and three service aces, while Osacar Munoz Trinidad totaled 18 assists. IMPACT PLAYERS - MATCH #2 Daemen's balanced offense was on full display again in match number two as Parker, Couzens, Patzer and Henry Moffitt (Sydney, Australia) each tallied six kills to lead the way. Couzens (4) and Parker (3) combined for seven of Daemen's 10 service aces. Krueger posted a match-high 22 assists, including the 1,200th of his career. The Daemen junior has amassed 1,218 assists in 42 career matches. Defensive specialist Ryan Bech (Pittsburgh, Pa.) contributed a team-high six digs, while Patzer and Krueger notched five apiece. Jordan Peiser took match-high honors with seven kills for the Soaring Eagles. INSIDE THE BOX SCORES Daemen was the far superior team today, both offensively and defensively. The Wildcats committed just seven hitting errors in the first match and posted a .470 hitting percentage in the match. In the two matches combined, Daemen totaled 72 kills (compared to Elmira's 44) and attacked at a .377 clip. On the flip side, Daemen limited Elmira to just a .021 hitting percentage in the two matches combined. The Soaring Eagles had 22 kills with 24 hitting errors (-.027 hitting percentage) in the second match. Daemen entered the match ranked first among all Division I/II teams in opponents hitting percentage. MATCH NOTES Daemen's program is in its third season of existence. After posting a 6-17 overall record in their inaugural 2019 season, the Wildcats doubled their win total in 2020, finishing 12-7 overall before the final 10 matches were cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Wildcats' current eight-match winning streak surpasses the prior program record of seven consecutive wins set last season. All seven wins came during the month of February (2020). Daemen has won 15 of their last 17 matches. Daemen was ranked second in the Off the Block Independent Teams Preseason Poll which was released in late December. The Wildcats return 13 players who have been with the program for at least a year, including four juniors who came in with the program's inception.
