Daemen Athletics Celebrates At 2021 Night Of Honors

5/14/2021 6:27:00 PM

AMHERST, N.Y. - The Daemen College Division of Athletics celebrated a successful season today at the 2021 Wildcat Night of Honors held on campus at Lumsden Gymnasium. Student-athletes were recognized for their athletic and academic throughout the event, which was conducted in two separate sessions to account for social gathering limits still in place due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

Major awards were presented to men's basketball players Andrew Sischo (Male Athlete of the Year) and Sean Fasoyiro (Male Newcomer of the Year), as well as women's basketball players Caroline White (Female Athlete of the Year) and Alahna Paige (Female Newcomer of the Year). In addition, men's basketball player Ziv Basden and women's soccer player Maddie Flores shared honors as co-recipients of the C.L.A.W. Award, presented annually to the graduating senior student-athlete(s) who best exemplify character, leadership, academic achievement and work ethic.

Additional division-wide awards presented include the Sports Medicine P.R.I.D.E. Award and the Male and Female Iron Wildcats of the Year. The P.R.I.D.E. Award is given annually to the student-athlete who best exemplifies perseverance, resilience, integrity, determination and expectations of excellence during an injury rehabilitation process. This year's recipient is women's volleyball student-athlete Allison Post who worked through injuries to return to her team before the completion of their unorthodox spring season.

The Iron Wildcat awards are presented to a male and female student-athlete who exhibit the best and most consistent strength and conditioning performances throughout the year. Fasoyiro and women's volleyball player Maggie Burns were each named recipients.
