DAEMEN DUELS — COMPLETE RESULTS

WILLIAMSVILLE, N.Y. - The Daemen College men's cross country team placed second out of four teams at the Daemen Duels held today at Bassett Park in Williamsville, N.Y. It marked the first meet hosted by Daemen since the 2017 NCAA Division II East Region Championships, which were held at Audubon Golf Course.

Houghton College had seven runners finish among the top 10 finishers en route to claiming the team title with a score of 22. Daemen posted a score of 39 and was followed by D'Youville College (90) and SUNY Erie (101).

Sophomore Jon Moote (Wilson, N.Y.) of Daemen claimed the individual title, as he topped all 31 runners and completed the 8K course in 28:22.4.

Daemen will be idle until Sept. 25 when the Wildcats take part in the Harry F. Anderson Invitational on the campus of Roberts Wesleyan College in Rochester, N.Y.

  • Moote, who had his freshman season canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, made the most of his collegiate debut and finished 33 seconds ahead of runner-up Dave Russo (28:55.7) of Houghton.
