AMHERST, N.Y. - Graduate student Caitlyn Meyer (Clarence, N.Y.) of the Daemen women's volleyball team has been named to the All-Tournament Team at the Warrior Invitational. The two-day, four-team tournament was played this weekend at the Matthaei Volleyball Facility on the campus of Wayne State University in Detroit.

Meyer, a 6-foot right side, was the Wildcats' top offensive player while making her Daemen debut this weekend. She appeared in all 14 sets and produced a team-high 46 kills (3.29 kills/set), reaching double-figures in three of the Wildcats' four matches. She also posted a .315 hitting percentage - the highest for any of the Wildcats' primary attackers.

She shared team-high honors with 10 kills during a season-opening 3-1 setback to Walsh on Friday morning, and added six kills in a 3-0 loss to tournament host WSU. On Saturday, she led the Wildcats to a pair of victories. Meyer totaled 14 kills and five blocks in a four-set affair with defending Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference champion East Stroudsburg, and followed up with a season-high 16 kills on a .464 hitting percentage in a straight-sets victory over West Liberty.

Meyer was joined on the All-Tournament Team by Kamryn Duffield of Wayne State, Olivia Maczuzak and Olivia Kearns of Walsh and Madison Clayton of West Liberty. Wayne State's Lauren VanderWal was named the tournament's Most Outstanding Player.

Meyer is in her first season with the Daemen program after beginning her career at the Division I level, playing for James Madison University. She graduated from JMU this past spring with a degree in Business Administration, and is utilizing a fifth year of eligibility granted to student-athletes in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. Meyer was a star on the Western New York scholastic landscape, earning multiple All-WNY selections while leading St. Mary's of Lancaster High School to state championships in 2014 and 2016.

Daemen is off to a 2-2 start to the 2021 season. The Wildcats, who feature an 18-player roster than includes 12 returners, were picked second in the East Coast Conference preseason coaches' poll which was released last week. They'll return to tournament action next weekend (Sept. 10-11) at the Cavalier Invitational on the campus of Walsh University in North Canton, Ohio.
