Buenting Named To CTCA All-Region Team

AMHERST, N.Y. - Bella Buenting (Chanhassen, Minn.) of Daemen College has been named to the Collegiate Triathlon Coaches Association (CTCA) All-Region Team stemming from her performance this past weekend at the Collegiate Triathlon National Qualifier held in Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin. 

In a race that included a sprint-distance 750-meter swim, 20-kilometer draft-legal bike, and five-kilometer run for both NCAA Division I and Division II triathletes, Buenting placed second among all Division II participants. She finished the course in 1:05:23.3, completing the open water swim portion in11:56.7, the cycling portion in 32:45.3, and the running portion in 19:48.0. 

The CTCA awards All-Region honors to triathletes who finish in the top three of their respective divisions at the National Qualifier. Buenting is joined on the Division II All-Region Team by Jayme-Sue Vermaas of Drury University and Kayla Ribbink of Lenoir-Rhyne University. Vermaas was the top Division II finisher at the competition, completing the course in 1:03:19.6.  

Buenting, who qualified for the Collegiate Triathlon National Championships with her performance last weekend, is the second Daemen triathlete to garner All-Region honors. She joins Amber Custodi who earned the honor in 2017.
