PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - Senior guard Jonah Charles drilled six three-pointers and scored 25 points to lead the University of Pennsylvania to a 74-47 victory over Daemen University in an exhibition game played tonight at the Palestra on the Penn campus.
It marked the first of two exhibition games against Division I programs the Wildcats will play as they prepare for the start of the 2022-23 season.
IMPACT PLAYERS
- Charles, who connected on 8-of-13 shots overall and 6-of-11 from downtown, was the only Penn play to score in double figures.
- 6-foot-10 sophomore Gus Larson helped the Quakers cause with nine points and 11 rebounds, while senior guard Lucas Monroe added seven points, seven rebounds and five assists.
- Redshirt senior guard/forward Joey Atkins (Watervliet, N.Y.) paced the Wildcats with 13 points, six rebounds and two steals, while senior guard Nick MacDonald (Amherst, N.Y.) added eight points and five boards.
- Former St. Joesph's Collegiate Institute standout Justin Glover (Buffalo, N.Y.) started for the Wildcats and played 20 minutes.
GAME NOTES
- Penn held a 19-17 lead with just over six minutes to play in the first half when the hosts score 10 unanswered points to take a 29-17 lead.Â
- The lead was 10 points, 31-21, with just over two minutes left before halftime when a jumper by junior Max Martz sparked the Quakers on a half-ending 5-0 spurt that gave the hosts a 36-21 halftime lead.
- Penn outscored the Wildcats 13-5 over the first 10 minutes of the second half to open up a 23-point lead, and the hosts maintained a comfortable lead the rest of the way.
- Daemen shot just 30-percent (15-of-50) from the field overall and made just 4-of-21 from three-point land.
- Penn shot 42-percent overall (27-of-64) and made 10-of-31 from downtown.

NEXT JUMP BALL
Daemen will make the short trip to the campus of the University at Buffalo to play the Bulls in an exhibition game next Sunday (Oct. 30). Game time is 2:30 p.m. at Alumni Arena.
