Wildcats Clinch ECC Regular Season Title, Top Roberts 3-1 On Senior Night

Daemen Wins Second-Straight Regular Season Title, Fourth Since 2016

AMHERST, N.Y. – For the second straight season, Daemen University women's volleyball are the East Coast Conference regular season champions. The Wildcats clinched the regular season title and top seed in the upcoming ECC Championship tournament on Wednesday night with a 3-1 (23-25, 25-13, 25-22, 25-19) victory over Roberts Wesleyan. Daemen has won 22 straight ECC regular season games dating back to the end of the 2019 season, and moves to 16-5 on the season with a 9-0 record in ECC play.

Daemen also earned the right to host the four-team ECC Tournament, which will take place Nov. 11-12 in Lumsden Gymnasium. It will mark the fourth time (2016, 2018, 2021, 2022) since 2016 that Daemen has hosted the ECC Tournament. The Wildcats claimed the ECC Tournament title and the automatic bid to the NCAA Division II Tournament in 2018 and 2021.

The win comes on Senior Night for the Cats. This was the final regular season home game for graduate student outside hitter Sam Logan (Eden, N.Y.), defensive specialist Mickaley Monahan (Saline, Mich.), outside hitter Jordan Martin (Fort Wayne, Ind.), middle blocker Loren Alberts (Huntley, Ill.) and middle blocker Shelby Kersten (Alden, N.Y.), who all started tonight and played in the entire match. These five senior Wildcats have helped lead the team to back-to-back undefeated conference seasons in 2021 and 2022, as well as Daemen's first ever NCAA Division II Tournament East Region championship and a trip to the Elite Eight last season.

With tonight's postseason clinch, the Wildcats have earned the ECC regular season title for the fourth time since 2016. Daemen won the regular season crown in 2016, 2018, and 2021.
