SRU, a member of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) remained unbeaten on the year and improved to 4-0. Daemen of the East Coast Conference suffered its second-straight loss and fell to 2-2. Daemen entered the game ranked fourth in the East Region by the NCAA Division II Sports Information Directors of America (D2SIDA). SRU is receiving votes in the D2SIDA Atlantic Region poll. IMPACT PLAYERS Gates, a 6-foot-7 swingman, totaled 15 points and 11 rebounds. McFall, a 6-foot-5 swingman, added 16 points and 10 boards. Senior guard Amante Britt paced the hosts with 18 points and four assists. Senior Nick MacDonald (Amherst, N.Y.) led the Wildcats with a career-high 20 points. Senior Ryan Salzberg (Manlius, N.Y.) added eight points and a team-high nine rebounds. Redshirt senior Joey Atkins (Watervliet, N.Y.) chipped in seven points, seven rebounds and three blocks, while freshman Ben Bill (Hamburg, N.Y.) played a season-high 14 minutes and totaled six points, three rebounds and a block. GAME NOTES Today's game marked the fifth all-time meeting between the two teams. SRU took a 3-2 advantage in the all-time series. The home team has prevailed in all five meetings. Daemen scored the first eight points of the game and the Wildcats later took a 23-10 lead following a bucket by Bill midway through the first half. Slippery Rock responded with an 8-0 run of their own and later took a 27-25 lead following a three-pointer by Gates with 3:43 left before halftime. The game was tied at 29-29 with just over two minutes left in the half and SRU would close out the frame with a 9-6 run to take a 38-35 lead into intermission. SRU held a 44-43 lead five minutes into the second half when a layup by McFall sparked The Rock on a 13-1 run. A layup by junior forward Lashon Lindsey with 11:24 left to play capped the run and gave the hosts a 57-44 lead. SRU would later increase the lead to 20 points, 69-49, following a bucket by Britt with just under seven minutes left and Daemen came no closer than 18 points the rest of the way. Daemen shot just 26-percent (7-for-27) in the second half and finished a season-low 34-percent (19-55) from the field overall. The Wildcats made 6-of-20 from three-point land and made 16-of-21 free throws. SRU shot 53-percent (16-30) in the second half and finished 30-of-64 (47%) from the field overall. The hosts went 6-of-20 from downtown and canned 16-of-17 free throws. SRU posted a 46-27 edge in total rebounds and the hosts grabbed 17 offensive rebounds which led to a 20-11 advantage in second chance points. The Rock also finished with a 38-24 edge in points in the paint. NEXT JUMP BALL The Wildcats are idle until Sunday (Nov. 27) when they host Alliance University (formerly Nyack College) of the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference in a non-conference game.
