KENMORE, N.Y. - The Daemen University women's bowling team closed out play at the Medaille Brunswick Invitational this afternoon. The two-day event featured 10 teams and took place at Classic Lanes.
Daemen entered the second day of action in fifth place in the team standings, and the Wildcats remained in fifth place after posting wins over Chestnut Hill, Hilbert and Roberts Wesleyan to start today. Daemen would end up in eighth place in the final standings after losing positional round matches to Bryant and Chestnut Hill.
The Wildcats ended up posting a total pin fall of 7,039 over their five traditional matches on Saturday and three Baker format matches today for a per game average of 176.0.
Daemen now stands at 24-11 on the season.
HIGHLIGHTS
- Daemen opened the today with a 799-771 win over Chestnut Hill. CHC held a 495-475 lead after three games, but Daemen took control with a 172-116 win in game four.
- Daemen then rolled to a 942-718 win over Hilbert. The Wildcats jumped out to a commanding 442-299 lead after two games and never looked back.
- The Wildcats ran their winning streak to three-straight matches following an exciting 913-912 win over rival Roberts Wesleyan. RWU held a 21-pin lead (383-362) after two games, but Daemen cut into the lead following a 163-155 win in game three. The Wildcats clicked on all cylinders in game four and rolled to a 230-186 win, which gave Daemen a 31-pin lead heading into game five. RWU came up one pin short in its comeback attempt following a 188-158 RWU win in game five.
- The Wildcats faced off against Bryant in the position round. The teams split the first two games of the Baker best-of-seven format, before Bryant to a 2-1 lead following a 188-150 win in game three. The Bulldogs posted a two-pin win (169-167) in game four and secured the 4-1 win with a 183-152 win in game five.
- Daemen capped the day with a 4-1 loss to Chestnut Hill. The Wildcats took game one, 168-159, before CHC won the next four games to secure the win.
- Senior Caitlyn Nowak (West Seneca, N.Y) placed seventh among 67 bowlers with a 188.0 average during the five traditional round games on Saturday. Junior Mollie Gizicki (Brighton, Mich.) placed 11th (184.0), while senior Paige Bartosz (West Seneca, N.Y.) placed 18th (178.0).
- Head coach Carrie Racsumberger recorded her 150th career win during the weekend and has now posted a 153-123 career record in her five seasons at Daemen.
UP NEXT
Daemen closes out the 2022 portion of its schedule next Sunday (Nov. 13) when they travel to Rochester, N.Y. to face rival Roberts Wesleyan in a dual match.
