Clarion, a member of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference, dropped to 2-6. Daemen shot a season-high 60-percent from the field overall and made 12 three-pointers in the game. It marked the third-straight game the Wildcats have made 10 or more three-pointers. Daemen entered today's game ranked 10th in the latest NCAA Division II Sports Information Directors of America (D2SIDA) East Region poll. IMPACT PLAYERS Five players scored in double figures for the Wildcats. Redshirt senior Joey Atkins (Watervliet, N.Y.) connected on 7-of-12 shots and totaled 14 points, five rebounds and two blocks. Sophomore Payton Shumpert (Syracuse, N.Y.) added a career-high 13 points off the bench, as he connected on 5-of-8 shots overall and made 3-of-6 from downtown. Junior Andrew Mason (Webster, N.Y.) was a perfect 4-for-4 from three-point land and totaled 12 points, while classmate Dylan Fasoyiro (Houston, Tex.) chipped in 12 points, four rebounds, four assists and three steals. Mason, who tied the program's NCAA-era (2015-present) record for three-pointers in a game (7) during a 72-70 loss at St. Thomas Aquinas last Friday night, has now connected on 15-of-22 (68%) three-pointers over the last three games. Fasoyiro has now scored in double figures in four of the last five games. Junior Justin Hemphill (Buffalo, N.Y.) scored seven points and grabbed a team-high six rebounds, while freshman Justin Glover (Buffalo, N.Y.) added five points and four assists. Freshman Ben Bill (Hamburg, N.Y.) made the most of his 10 minutes and finished with six points and five rebounds. Freshman Jayson Harris netted 15 points for the Golden Eagles, while junior Mekhi Reynolds added 14 points. GAME NOTES Tonight's game marked the first-ever appearance by Clarion at Lumsden Gym and the first meeting between the two schools since the 2000-01 season. The all-time series is now tied at 2-2. The teams traded baskets early on and Daemen held a 10-8 lead when a three-pointer by Mason sparked the hosts on a 17-2 run. Four different players hit a three-pointers during the run and a triple by Shumpert with 9:33 left before halftime capped the run and gave Daemen a 27-10 lead. Mason's third three-pointer of the half with 3:18 left before intermission gave the Wildcats their largest lead of the half, 42-18, and the hosts took a 44-26 lead into intermission. The Daemen lead was 19 points, 61-42, midway through the second half when the Wildcats secured the win with an 11-0 run. A breakaway dunk by Atkins with 8:07 left to play capped the run and gave the hosts a 70-42 lead. Daemen established season highs for points (87), field goals (34) and three-pointers (12) in a game. The Wildcats have now shot 50-percent of better in each of the last three games and have shot 48-percent (35-73) from downtown over the last three contests. Daemen shot a 60-percent (34-for-57) from the field overall tonight and made 12-of-23 three-pointers. The Wildcats finished 7-of-13 from the free throw line. Clarion shot 37-percent (21-for-57) from the field overall and went 4-of-19 from downtown. The Golden Eagles canned 11-of-13 free throws. NEXT JUMP BALL Tonight's game marked the first of five-straight non-conference games for the Wildcats.
