Cheyney dropped to 2-11. Daemen entered today's game receiving votes in the latest NCAA Division II Sports Information Directors of America (D2SIDA) East Region poll. IMPACT PLAYERS Four players scored in double figures for the host Wildcats. Junior Justin Hemphill (Buffalo, N.Y.) paced the Wildcats with a career-high 16 points in just 22 minutes off the bench. He went 3-for-3 from three-point land and also totaled eight rebounds and two steals. Hemphill entered the game just 1-of-4 from downtown over his career. Junior Dylan Fasoyiro (Houston, Tex.) narrowly missed recording his first career double-double, as he finished with 15 points, a team-high nine rebounds and three assists. Redshirt senior Joey Atkins (Watervliet, N.Y.) connected on 5-of-7 shots and totaled 13 points, two blocks and two steals. Senior Nick MacDonald (Amherst, N.Y.) went 2-of-5 from downtown and finished with 11 points, while fellow senior Ryan Salzberg (Manlius, N.Y.) drilled three three-pointers and added nine points and a team-high five assists. MacDonald has now scored in double figures in 11 of Daemen's 12 games and has made at least one three-pointer in every game. Junior Justin Poumpey (Buffalo, N.Y.) played a season-high 17 minutes off the bench and dished out a career-high four assists. Freshman guard Jalen Boyd-Savage, who entered the game averaging 19.1 points, paced the Wolves with 18 points and three steals. GAME NOTES Today's game marked the first-ever meeting between the two schools. The game was tied at 16-16 midway through the first half when a three-pointer by Hemphill sparked the Wildcats on an 18-0 run. Daemen drilled four three-pointers during the run and a jumper by Fasoyiro with 4:52 left in the half capped it and gave Daemen a 34-16 lead. The Daemen lead was 14 points late in the half and the Wildcats took a 44-26 lead into intermission after Hemphill scored twice in the final 1:06. Cheyney cut the lead to 13 points, 47-34, at the start of the second half, but the Wildcats responded with a 14-5 run and held a 61-39 lead midway through the second half. Cheyney came no closer than 16 points (65-49) down the stretch. The Wildcats shot 64-percent (18-of-28) from the field in the first half and finished 29-of-50 (58%) from the field overall. Daemen made 10-of-23 from downtown and 8-of-17 from the charity stripe. It marked the fifth time overall--and fourth time over the last five games--Daemen has made 10 or more three-pointers in a game. Cheyney shot 36-percent (19-for-53) from the field overall and went 6-of-20 from downtown. The Wolves canned 9-of-10 free throws. Daemen finished with a 31-28 edge in total rebounds and the Wildcats also posted a 12-7 edge in second chance points. The hosts also finished with the advantage in points in the paint (34-22) and points off turnovers (22-15).
