Daemen has now won four of its last five games and improved to 7-6 overall. FPU, a member of the Northeast-10 Conference, suffered its second-straight loss and dropped to 7-5. Daemen entered today's game receiving votes in the latest NCAA Division II Sports Information Directors of America (D2SIDA) East Region poll, while Franklin Pierce is ranked seventh. IMPACT PLAYERS Mason, who scored 13 of his team-high 15 points in the second half, went 3-of-8 from three-point land. Atkins connected on 5-of-10 shots and totaled 14 points, seven rebounds and three blocks. Senior Nick MacDonald (Amherst, N.Y.) went 3-of-7 from downtown and finished with 11 points and six rebounds. Junior Dylan Fasoyiro (Houston, Tex.) finished with seven points and a team-high nine rebounds, while junior Justin Hemphill (Buffalo, N.Y.) contributed six points and tied Fasoyiro for the team lead in rebounds (9). Senior Ryan Salzberg (Manlius, N.Y.) added six rebounds and four assists. Sophomore forward Sean Trumper scored a team-high 12 points for FPU, while sophomore guard Mohamed Traore added 10 points and 12 rebounds. GAME NOTES Today's game marked just the second-ever meeting between the two schools. FPU prevailed in the first-ever meeting, 83-80, last year at KeyBank Center in downtown Buffalo, N.Y. Daemen outscored the Ravens 12-7 over the first six minutes of the game and the Wildcats later took their largest lead of the first half, 22-14, following a layup by Fasoyiro with just under six minutes left in the half. The teams traded baskets the remainder of the half and the Wildcats took a 28-22 lead into the break. The Daemen lead was four points, 35-31, five minutes into the second half when a jumper by Mason sparked the visitors on a 17-5 run. A three-pointer by Mason with 7:58 to play capped the run and gave Daemen its largest lead of the game, a 52-36. The Ravens regrouped following a timeout and scored the next 12 points. A jumper by Traore capped the spurt and cut the Daemen lead to four points, 52-48. Daemen ended its scoreless streak with a three-pointer by MacDonald with 3:50 remaining, and Atkins split a pair of free throws with 3:17 left to give the Wildcats a 56-48 lead. FPU cut the lead to six points, 56-50, following a layup by Jarnel Snow-Guzman with 2:53 left, and neither team scored after that until Mason swished two free throws with 39 seconds left. FPU came up empty on its next possession and Atkins gave Daemen a 59-50 lead after he made one-of-two free throws with 24 seconds remaining. The Wildcats shot 44-percent (11-of-25) from the field in the second half and finished 23-of-57 (40%) from the field overall. Daemen made 7-of-22 from downtown and 6-of-11 from the charity stripe. FPU shot just 25-percent (9-for-36) from the field in the first half and finished 20-of-68 (29%) from the field overall. The Ravens went just 3-of-19 from downtown and canned 8-of-13 free throws. Both teams totaled 44 rebounds. FPU hauled in 18 offensive rebounds and the hosts finished with a 13-6 advantage in second chance points. FPU also finished with an advantage in points in the paint (30-20) and points off turnovers (14-4).
