AMHERST, N.Y. – The Daemen University women's volleyball team extended their conference winning streak to 15 matches with Saturday's 3-0 (25-19, 25-13, 25-15) win over Queens at Lumsden Gym. Daemen has beaten Queens in the last seven meetings, finishing with 3-0 sweeps over the Knights in both matches last season.
The Wildcats have swept opponents seven times in their 8-3 season, and the win marks the 14th straight East Coast Conference victory for Daemen. The Cats move to 42-1 in sets during ECC regular season play since the beginning of the 2021 season.
Daemen opens up ECC play with a 2-0 start for the sixth time in seven seasons (ECC did not field a conference schedule during the 2020 season).
The Wildcats look to continue their winning ways on Sunday with a matinee match against Molloy University. Tip-off is set for 11 AM.
IMPACT PLAYERS
- Sophomore outside hitter Amelia Armstrong (River Falls, Wisc.) tallied a season-high 12 kills on the afternoon for a .391 hitting percentage. Armstrong averaged four kills/set).
- Outside hitter Sam Logan (Eden, N.Y.) finished with 11 kills and no errors on 18 attacks for a season-high .611 hitting percentage, which marks her second-highest hitting percentage in her career (her highest was .727 on Oct. 13, 2021 against D'Youville).
- Senior outside hitter Maggie Burns (Louisville, Ky.) earned a season-high hitting percentage (.438) against the Knights, tallying nine kills with just two errors on 16 attacks. She added an ace, a solo block, and 10 digs on the day.
- Junior Olivia Alessi (East Aurora, N.Y.) returned to the lineup against Queen and served as the primary setter for Daemen. She totaled a season-high 39 assists to average 13 assists per set. Alessi added six digs and an ace on the day.
- Junior outside hitter Giselle Giraud (Orlando, Fla.) earned with a season-high .350 hitting percentage, totaling nine kills and just two errors on 20 attacks. Giraud added an ace and an assisted block.
- Junior middle blocker Vanessa Kuliga (Glenview, Ill.) sent home six kills, notching two kills per set. She finished with a season-high five aces on the day, and added an assisted block and four digs.
- Junior libero Jasmine Brundage (East Aurora, N.Y.) totaled 12 digs (4 digs/set) against the Knights.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- The Daemen starters played the entire match.
- The Wildcats out-killed Queens 47-18, the largest difference of the season. The team's .340 hitting percentage marks a season-high.
- Armstrong knocked down six kills in the third set. She finished with a team-high 12 kills on the day.
- Three Wildcats tallied five kills a piece in the first set. Burns, Giraud and Logan combined for 15 of Daemen's 21 kills in the set.
- Kuliga tallied three aces in the second set alone and finished with a season-high five aces in the match, marking her first multi-ace game since Sept. 5 against Mercyhurst.
- Logan finished with a double-double for the third straight match this season, totaling 11 kills and 13 digs.
- The Wildcats began the third set on a 12-4 run, taking advantage of errors by Queens and sending home four kills to start the set.
- Daemen totaled double-digit aces for the third time this season, and the second straight match. The Wildcats finished with 10 aces against Queens.
GAME NOTES
- This was the 17th meeting between Daemen and Queens, and today's victory marked the seventh straight Wildcat win over the Knights.
- Queens' 13 points in the second set was the second-lowest the Wildcats have given up in a set all season. The lowest came in the first set against Franklin Pierce on Sept. 4 (10).

The Wildcats continue their homestand on Sunday with an 11 AM match against Molloy University. The Lions swept D'Youville on Saturday afternoon.
