WALTHAM, Mass. – An early goal by Bentley senior Liliana Silva proved to be the game-winner as Daemen University dropped a 1-0 heartbreaker on Saturday. Daemen out-shot Bentley 19-9, but was unable to find the back of the net. The Wildcats drop to 0-2-1 on the season. The Falcons move to 1-1-2.
Saturday's matchup was the first meeting between Daemen and Bentley. The Falcons are a member of the Northeast 10 Conference, and is the third-straight NE-10 team the Wildcats have faced so far this year.
HIGHLIGHTS
- Bentley senior midfielder Liliana Silva netted the only goal of the game with a boot over the head of Daemen goalie Tori DeLappi (Medina, Ohio) in the 12th minute
- Daemen out-shot Bentley 19-9, with the Wildcats amassing 14 total shots in the first half alone. Daemen also finished with six shots on goal.
- Daemen goaltender Tori DeLappi (Medina, Ohio) made four saves on six shots faced.
- Bentley netminder Claire Ewen made six saves on six Wildcat shots.
GAME NOTES
- Today was the first ever meeting between Daemen and Bentley.
- Bentley was the third-straight Northeast-10 game the Wildcats have played so far this season.
- The Wildcats have started the last two seasons with an 0-2 record. In the abbreviated 2020 season, Daemen went on to win their final two games, and finished with a 2-2 record. In 2021, Daemen went 2-5 in non-conference games, but ended the season with a 9-6-1 record.
- Sophomore forward Alyssa Diaz (Rochester, N.Y.) again led the Daemen team in shots, finishing the game with five total shots and two shots on goal.
- This is the second straight game that Daemen ended without a goal. The Wildcats tied Le Moyne 0-0 after 90 minutes of regulation on Tuesday.

- Daemen returns home on a Labor Day matchup Monday (Sept. 5) when they play host to Saint Anselm. Kickoff at Karrer Field is set for 12 p.m.
