Daemen has now won six straight and eight of its last nine games. The Wildcats improved to 11-6 overall and 4-3 in the league. D'Youville suffered its seventh straight loss and fell to 3-13 overall and 2-6 in the league. Daemen entered today's game ranked ninth in the latest NCAA Division II Sports Information Directors of America (D2SIDA) East Region poll. IMPACT PLAYERS Fasoyiro connected on 5-of-10 shots and also contributed seven rebounds, two blocks and two steals. Senior Nick MacDonald (Amherst, N.Y.) made 6-of-8 free throws—including two big ones in the final seconds—and finished with 12 points and seven rebounds. Fellow senior Ryan Salzberg (Manlius, N.Y.) played 36 minutes and scored seven points, while redshirt senior Joey Atkins (Watervliet, N.Y.) added six points, five rebounds and three blocks. Junior Andrew Mason (Webster, N.Y.), the reigning ECC Player of the Week, was limited to just one point, but equaled his career-high with 10 rebounds. Junior Justin Hemphill (Buffalo, N.Y.) added nine points and six rebounds in 22 minutes off the bench. Freshman Justin Glover (Buffalo, N.Y.) returned to action after missing five games due to injury and chipped in five points in 11 minutes. Sophomore guard Nelson St. Louis scored a team-high 15 points for the Saints. GAME NOTES Daemen has now prevailed in all 10 meetings between the two programs. Neither team led by more than three points during a first half that featured seven lead changes and four ties. Daemen trailed 39-36 eight minutes into the second half, but the Wildcats used a 16-3 run to build a 52-42 lead. Two free throws by MacDonald with 4:36 left capped the rally. D'Youville answered with a three-pointer by senior Latrell Butler and the Saints later cut the lead to two points, 52-50, after St. Louis made two free throws with 2:14 to play. Salzberg made one of two free throws at the 2:00 minute mark to make it 53-50, and neither team scored again until Mason made one of two from the charity stripe with 16 seconds left. St. Louis kept the Saints alive with a three-pointer with four seconds left, but MacDonald made two free throws at the other end to close out the scoring. The Wildcats have limited 12 of their 17 opponents to 70 points or less this season. A physical game from the start, the teams combined for 42 fouls and 47 free throws. Daemen, which entered the game averaging eight three-pointers a game, failed to make a three-pointer (0-for-10) for the first time since the 2012-13 season—a stretch of 295-straight games. The Wildcats shot 40-percent (18-of-45) from the field overall. Daemen attempted a season-high 30 free throws and made 20. D'Youville shot just 29-percent (19-for-66) from the field overall and was 5-of-28 from downtown. The Saints made 10-of-17 from the charity stripe. Daemen finished with a 44-38 edge in total rebounds. The Saints finished with a 14-8 advantage in points off turnovers and a 17-8 edge in second chance points.
