Miranto's Hat Trick Propels Daemen To 5-0 Win Over Lincoln

Wildcats Have Won Three Straight And Are Unbeaten In Their Last Five

LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, Pa. – Sophomore Kylie Miranto (North Tonawanda, N.Y.) recorded her first career hat trick to lead the Daemen University women's soccer team to a 5-0 victory over Lincoln University this afternoon at the LU Athletics Stadium. Daemen rans its winning streak to three-straight games and improved to 4-3-1 overall and 3-0-0 in the East Coast Conference. Lincoln dropped to 1-7-2 overall and 0-4-0 in the league.

HIGHLIGHTS
  • The game remained scoreless until the Wildcats took control with three goals—all off the foot of Miranto—in the span of four minutes.
  • Miranto, the reigning ECC Offensive Player of the Week, opened the scoring at 10:55 after LU goalkeeper Ariel Reyes mishandled a shot by senior Brooke Amato (Grand Island, N.Y.) and Miranto poked the loose ball into the open net.
  • Miranto scored again at 12:48. A shot from the left flank by senior Gretchen Beyer (Williamsville, N.Y.) went off the crossbar and right to the foot of Miranto, who once again poked the ball into the open net.
  • Her third goal came two minutes later at 14:42. This time Miranto collected the rebound of her own shot and slid a shot past Reyes from in close.
  • Daemen took a 3-0 lead into halftime and took a 4-0 lead 10 minutes into the second half. A free kick by senior Madita Zeitz (Malsch, Germany) was saved by Reyes, but the rebound went for junior Alyssa Diaz (Rochester, N.Y.) at the side of the net and she one-timed it into an open net.
  • Daemen's final goal also came off a rebound. This time freshman Amanda Nilsson (Malmö, Sweden) sent a shot on goal that was saved by Reyes, but junior transfer Ramone Trentin (São Leopoldo, Brazil) one-time the rebound home for her first goal as a Wildcat.
  • Daemen outshot the Lions 14-1 in the first half and finished with a 23-3 edge in shots for the game.
  • Sophomore Becca Schultz (Grand Island, N.Y.), the reigning ECC Defensive Player of the Week, went the distance in goal for the Wildcats and made three saves en route to her third shutout of the season. Reyes made seven saves for the Lions.
GAME NOTES
  • Today's contest marked sixth all-time meeting between the Wildcats and the Lions. Daemen has prevailed in all six meetings.
  • Miranto has scored in four straight and five of the last six games. She leads the ECC in goals (8) and points (17).
  • Schultz has allowed just two goals over the last five games and leads the ECC in save percentage (852).
