Repolio's Late Tally Lifts Daemen To 2-1 Win At Bluefield State

Wildcats Have Won Four Straight And Five Of Their Last Six

BLUEFIELD, W.V. – A goal by freshman Brianne Repolio (Haddon Heights, N.J.) with 13 minutes left to play lifted the Daemen University women's soccer team to a 2-1 victory over Bluefield State University in non-conference action this afternoon at the East River Soccer Complex. Daemen rans its winning streak to four-straight games and improved to 5-3-1 overall. Bluefield State dropped to 2-6-0.

HIGHLIGHTS
  • The game remained scoreless until the 18th minute when sophomore Martina Cardemil scored for the hosts. Cardemil took a pass on the right flank, made a move to the inside and lofted a shot from just outside the Daemen box into the upper left corner for her team-leading fourth goal of the year.
  • The hosts took a 1-0 lead into halftime, but Daemen evened the score just five minutes into the second half. Senior Brooke Amato (Grand Island, N.Y.) created the scoring chance after she sent a lead pass to sophomore Kylie Miranto (North Tonawanda, N.Y.) from midfield. Miranto eluded the charging BSU netmindier and eventually scored into an open net from 15 yards out.
  • Both teams had solid chances to take the lead, but it was Repolio who was in the right spot at the right time for the Wildcats. Miranto took a shot from the right flank that was stopped by BSU netminder Rylee Truslow. She could not maintain control of the ball and Repolio was there to tap the loose ball into the open net from five yards out.
  • The Wildcats held the hosts without a shot the rest of the way to secure the win.
  • Daemen outshot the Big Blue 17-9 in the second half and finished with a 25-17 edge in shots overall. The Wildcats also held a 12-9 advantage in shots on goal.
  • Sophomore Becca Schultz (Grand Island, N.Y.) went the distance in goal for the Wildcats and made eight saves. Truslow made 10 saves for the Big Blue.
GAME NOTES
  • Today's contest marked the first all-time meeting between the Wildcats and the Big Blue.
  • Miranto has scored in five straight and six of the last seven games. She leads the East Coast Conference in goals (9) and points (20).
  • It marked the second goal of the year for Repolio.
  • Schultz has allowed just three goals over the last six games and leads the ECC in save percentage (857).
