Brundage Earns Fifth ECC Defensive Player of the Week

AMHERST, N.Y. -- For the third straight week and the fifth time this season, senior libero Jasmine Brundage (East Aurora, N.Y.) of the Daemen University women's volleyball team was named East Coast Conference Defensive Player of the Week. The league announced in the weekly sport report on Monday afternoon for competitions taking place Oct. 16 to 22. 

Brundage led the Wildcats defensively on the week with 58 digs to average 4.83 digs per set as she helped Daemen to a 2-1 record over three matches. The senior libero posted her eighth 20-plus dig performance on Wednesday with a match-high 24 digs as the Wildcats fell to Gannon in a five-set thriller. She averaged 4.8 digs per set in the match. Over the weekend, the posted back-to-back team highs in digs with 15 against Mercy on Saturday and 19 against STAC on Sunday. Brundage totaled 53 receptions over the three matches with just two errors, and added nine assists and two aces on the week.

As the league leader in digs and digs per set, Brundage totals 374 digs and averages 5.05 digs per set. She has played in 22 of Daemen's 23 matches this season, playing in 74 of the Wildcats' 81 total sets. Brundage ranks third on the team with 25 service aces, averaging 0.34 aces per set, and ranks third on the team with 292 total receptions for a 96.6 reception percentage on the season. She's the only player in the league to earn ECC Defensive Player of the Week multiple times this season.

Daemen has earned at least one major weekly award in seven of the eight weeks the conference has produced a weekly report, and the Wildcats have swept the weekly awards twice this season.

The Wildcats will travel to Rochester, N.Y. on Wednesday for a 7 PM match against longtime rival Roberts Wesleyan for their final road game of the regular season.
