Molloy improved to 2-7-3 overall and 1-2-1 in the ECC, while the host Wildcats fell to 2-7-1 overall and 1-3-0 in the league. HIGHLIGHTS Both teams posted seven shots in the first half, but it was the Lions who scored twice during the opening frame. Molloy opened the scoring in the 30th minute when senior Ryan Dobson scored off a feed from classmate Andy Blanco. The Lions doubled their lead with just over two minutes left before halftime following an unassisted goal by freshman Steph Maurice. Daemen outshot the Lions 11-5 in the second half but could not break into the scoring column until the final minute of the game when junior Rayane Baitiche (Thionville, France) banged home the rebound of a shot by freshman Elijah Douglas (Clarence, N.Y.). Daemen equaled its season-high for shots in a game (18) and finished with an 18-12 edge in total shots. Both teams registered nine shots on goal and the hosts posted a 3-2 edge in corner kicks. Junior Arturo Bustamante (South Gate, Calif.) went the distance in goal for the Wildcats and made five saves. Graduate student Dennis Mejia made eight saves for the Lions. GAME NOTES Today's contest marked the 10th all-time meeting between the two schools. The Lions have prevailed in the last four meetings and own an 8-2 advantage in the series. Baitiche netted his second goal of the year, while Douglas recorded his first career assist. UP NEXT The Wildcats return to action Wednesday (Oct. 11) when they travel to The College of Saint Rise for a non-conference game.
