The two-day tournament is being hosted by Mercyhurst University and is taking place at Rolling Meadow Lanes. It features nine schools: Daemen, Mercyhurst, D'Youville University, Mount Aloysius College, Niagara University, Penn State Behrend, Pitt.-Bradford, Roberts Wesleyan University and Wilmington (Del.) University. The Wildcats ended up winning five of nine matches over the two days and finished in fifth place. Niagara defeated Wilmington in the championship match to claim the title. Mercyhurst, the defending champion, placed third, while Roberts Wesleyan placed fourth. HIGHLIGHTS Daemen went 3-2 during the opening day and entered day two in fifth place with 4,182 total pins. Wilmington sat atop the leaderboard after day one with 4,595 pins. Niagara (4,568), Mercyhurst (4.421), Roberts Wesleyan (4,306) and Daemen rounded out the top five. Daemen went 2-2 in matches played today. All of today's matches were scored using Baker Format. Daemen opened the day with a bye round and posted a total pin fall of 839. Daemen then suffered an 870-862 loss to Roberts Wesleyan. The teams split the first four games and Daemen took a slim 685-682 lead into the fifth and final game. RWU prevailed 188-177 in the final game to secure the win. Daemen had prevailed in the last 11 matches between the two rivals dating back the 2021-22 season. Daemen rebounded with an 855-738 win over Mount Aloysius College. Daemen held a 315-276 lead after the first two games and took control with a 234-145 win in game three. Daemen then suffered an 845-841 loss to D'Youville. Daemen held an 87-pin lead (531-444) after three games, but the margin was cut to just six pins after the Saints posted a 215-134 win in game four. D'Youville completed the comeback with a 186-176 win in game five. Daemen had prevailed in their last 10 matches against the crosstown rival Saints. Daemen then faced off against Penn-State Behrend in a Baker Format best-of-seven match, with the winner claiming fifth place. Daemen, which suffered a loss to Penn-State Behrend during first round action, won the first three games and went on to a 4-1 victory over the Lions. UP NEXT The Wildcats return to Erie, Pa. next weekend (Oct. 14-15) for the Grapevine Classic hosted by Penn-State Behrend.
