The two-day event features 12 teams and is taking place at Brad Angelo Lanes. The host Wildcats sit atop the team standings after day one with a total pin fall of 4,580. Saint Vincent College totaled 4,436 pins and sits in second place, while Mercyhurst University is in third place with 4,283 pins. William Smith College (4,282) and Roberts Wesleyan University (4,280) round out the top five. HIGHLIGHTS Daemen opened the day with an 941-637 win over Pitt.-Greensburg. Graduate student Caitlyn Nowak (West Seneca, N.Y.) led the way with a 198, while freshman Brenna Forsha (Tonanwanda, N.Y.) rolled a 191 and fellow rookie Sabrina Palmer (Waterloo, N.Y.) posted a 189. Daemen then defeated Pitt.-Bradford 922-848. Freshman Cassidy Papero (Cheektowaga, N.Y.) rolled a 209 to lead the Wildcats, while sophomore Mackenzie Hutchins (Wheatfield, N.Y.) posted a 204. Daemen then squared off against Mercyhurst, which is ranked 16th in the National Tenpin Coaches Association (NTCA) All-Divisions Top-25. Daemen posted its second win over the Lakers this season, 850-798. Senior Mollie Gizicki (Brighton, Mass.) rolled a 205 to lead the way. The Wildcats made it four wins following an 818-771 victory over Penn State Behrend. Gizicki again led the way with a 181. The best match of the day was the last, as Daemen outlasted Saint Vincent College, 1,050-1,003. Both teams are ranked in the NTCA Division II/III preseason poll. Four of Daemen's five bowlers rolled a 200, as Forsha led the way with a 252—the highest score by a Wildcat bowler on the day. Gizicki followed with a 214, while Papero rolled a 210 and Palmer posted a 200. Gizicki competed in all five matches and just missed out on all-tournament honors, which goes to the top five bowlers who compete in all five matches. Gizicki finished with a 189.00 average, which ranked seventh best. Papero and Nowak also bowled in all five matches. Papero placed 12th with a 182.00 average, while Nowak placed 15th (175.80). Forsha competed in four matches and posted 195.75 average, which ranked as the highest average among bowlers who competed in four matches. Palmer and Hutchins both competed in three matches. Palmer finished with a 184.33 average, while Hutchins finished with a 170.00 average. UP NEXT Day two gets underway at 9:45 a.m. tomorrow.
