Wildcats Remain Seventh in D2CSC Regional Poll

AMHERST, N.Y. – The Daemen University men's basketball team is ranked seventh in the third Division II College Sports Communicators (D2CSC) East Region Men's Basketball Media Poll for 2023-24. The Wildcats remained seventh for the second-straight week. Daemen opened the season ranked fifth in the first poll of the 2023-24 season last week.

Daemen has been ranked in 60 of the last 68 D2CSC (formerly D2SIDA) regional polls dating back to January 2018.

Daemen has won five of its last six games and improved to 6-3 on the year following wins over two Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) teams last week. The Wildcats opened the week with an 86-62 win over Slippery Rock University at Lumsden Fieldhouse. It marked the 10th-straight home win for the Wildcats dating back to last season. Daemen then capped the week with a 97-76 win at Clarion University. The 97 points were the most in game for the Wildcats since a 97-52 win over D'Youville on Feb. 9, 2022. Daemen has featured a balanced scoring attack and solid defense in its nine games thus far. Five players are averaging in double figures and a sixth player is contributing 9.3 points. Senior Dylan Fasoyiro (Houston, Tex.) has scored over 20 points in three of the last five games is averaging 15.6 points with 16 three-pointers. Sophomore Justin Glover (Buffalo, N.Y.) has scored in double figures in all eight games he has played in and is averaging 14.0 points and 2.9 assists. Graduate student Joey Atkins (Watervliet, N.Y.), the ECC Preseason Player of the Year, is averaging 12.9 points and 6.7 rebounds and leads the ECC in blocks (10) and steals (18). Senior Andrew Mason (Webster, N.Y.) has reached double figures in points the last six games and is averaging 10.9 points with a team-high 22 three-pointers. Senior Nick MacDonald (Amherst, N.Y.) is contributing 10.2 points per game, while sixth man Justin Hemphill (Buffalo, N.Y.) is producing 9.3 points and a team-high 6.8 rebounds per contest.

Daemen collected 26 points in this week's regional poll. Saint Thomas Aquinas replaced Bentley atop the poll. STAC collected four of the six first place votes and sits atop the poll with 56 points. Pace (51) also moved up a spot to No. 2, while Bentley (47) is now ranked third. Dominican (45) and Caldwell (32) round out the top five. The remainder of the poll includes Southern New Hampshire (30), Daemen, Post (25), Southern Connecticut State (6), Bloomfield (3) and Saint Michael's (3).

The D2CSC East Region media poll is conducted by sports information professionals representing the East Coast Conference, Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference and Northeast-10 Conference.
