Maggie Burns (Louisville, Ky.),
Jasmine Brundage (East Aurora, N.Y.) and
Charlotte Koerber (Munich, Germany) of the Daemen University women's volleyball team earned three of the four major East Coast Conference weekly awards after helping lead the Wildcats to a 2-0 week with big wins over Queens College and Molloy University. The awards were announced this afternoon and were awarded for competitions taking place October 30 through November 5.
Burns was named the ECC Player of the Week for the third week this season after totaling 25 kills (3.13 kills per set), 18 digs and six service aces on the weekend. The fifth year outside hitter posted her eighth double-double of the season with 10 kills and 10 digs in Saturday's win over Queens, and after notching her first kill of the match against Molloy on Sunday, became the 10th player in Daemen program history to total 1,000 career kills. She finished with 15 kills and eight digs in Daemen's 3-2 win over Molloy.
On the year, Burns ranks third on the team with 202 kills and ranks eighth in the league with an average of 2.81 kills per set. She's averaging 3.30 points per set which ranks eighth in the ECC. Burns totals 195 digs (2.71 digs per set), third-most on the team. Burns ranks second on the team with 396 total receptions for a 94.7 reception percentage this year. This is the sixth week this season that a Daemen player has been named the Player of the Week.
Brundage picks up her sixth ECC Defensive Player of the Week after a 38-dig performance to average 4.75 digs per set over two matches. The senior libero led all players on the court in both matches, totaling 14 digs on Saturday and 24 digs on Sunday against the Lions. Brundage added four assists and two aces over the weekend.
As the league leader in digs and digs per set, Brundage totals 429 digs and averages 5.05 digs per set. She has played in 25 of Daemen's 26 matches this season, playing in 85 of the Wildcats' 92 total sets. Brundage ranks third on the team with 28 service aces, averaging 0.33 aces per set, and ranks third on the team with 340 total receptions for a 96.8 reception percentage on the season. She's the only player in the league to earn ECC Defensive Player of the Week multiple times this season.
Koerber was named the ECC Rookie of the Week for the sixth week this season, marking her eighth weekly ECC award of the season. The freshman outside hitter finished with 16 kills (2.0 kills per set) for a .254 hitting percentage, while adding 17 kills, two assists and an assisted block. Koerber posted her 11th double-double of the year in Sunday's win over Molloy, tallying 10 kills and 12 digs.
On the year, Koerber leads the team with 282 total kills and ranks third in the league with 3.62 kills per set. She leads the team and is ranks sixth in the ECC with 0.49 aces per set, totaling 38 so far this year. Koerber ranks second on the team with 226 total digs and averages 2.90 digs per set, and has received a team-high 462 total receptions for a 95.2-percent reception rate.
Daemen has earned at least one major weekly award in nine of the 10 weeks the conference has produced a weekly report, and the Wildcats have swept the weekly awards twice this season.
