Daemen, which is ranked seventh in the Division II College Sports Communicators (D2CSC) East Region poll, dropped to 8-4 overall and 2-1 in the East Coast Conference. Queens improved to 6-4 overall and 2-2 in the league. IMPACT PLAYERS Four players scored in double figures for the Wildcats. Senior Dylan Fasoyiro (Houston, Tex.) scored 25 points and grabbed four rebounds. Fasoyiro has now scored 20 or more points in five of the last eight games. Sophomore Justin Glover (Buffalo, N.Y.) added 15 points. Senior Nick MacDonald (Amherst, N.Y.) chipped in 10 points and seven rebounds, while freshman Ryan Heath (Rochester, N.Y.) scored a season-high 10 points. Graduate student Joey Atkins (Watervliet, N.Y.) totaled seven points, 13 rebounds and six blocks—one shy of his career-high for blocks in a game. Senior Sunnie Diamond of Queens led all scorers with 33 points. He also added 11 rebounds, five assists and three steals. GAME NOTES Daemen had won the last five meetings between the two teams played at Fitzgerald Gym. Daemen maintains a 17-4 advantage in the all-time series. Daemen entered the game leading the ECC in team defense, allowing just 69.4 points per game. It marked the first time in nine games the Wildcats have allowed 80 or more points in a game. Daemen entered the game leading the ECC in field goal percentage (.486) but shot a season-low 39-percent (23-59) from the field today. Neither team held a double-digit lead in the game, which featured 22 ties and 22 lead changes. Daemen held a 12-10 lead seven minutes into the game when the Wildcats scored five of the next seven points and took their largest lead of the game, 17-12, following a bucket by Fasoyiro with 12:26 left before the break. Queens scored the next five points to quickly erase the lead and the game was later knotted at 22-22 midway through the first half. The hosts would take their largest lead of the first half, 30-24, after sophomore Eric Tynes scored at the 6:06 mark, but Daemen put together an 11-2 run and took a 35-32 lead after Fasoyiro made two free throws with 2:09 left before halftime. Daemen would go scoreless the rest of the half and Queens took a 38-35 lead into halftime. Queens took what would be the largest lead of the game, 54-45, following a triple by Diamond with 12 minutes left to play, but Daemen outscored the Knights 23-13 over the next nine minutes and took a 68-67 lead after Fasoyiro drilled a three-pointer with just under three minutes left. Daemen took a 70-67 lead after Fasoyiro made two free throws with 1:35 left. Diamond missed the second of two free throws on QC's next possession, but Diamond rebounded his miss and a dunk by junior Zyeir Lawrence with 1:06 left tied the game at 70-70. Both teams came up empty on their next possession and MacDonald hit two free throws with 13 seconds left to give the Wildcats a 72-70 lead. Diamond scored with six seconds left and a buzzer-beating three-pointer by MacDonald was off the mark. A Diamond three-pointer gave Queens a 77-74 lead at the 2:51 mark of overtime, but Daemen eventually tied the game at 77-77 after Glover made two from the charity stripe with 1:57 left. Queens made 1-of-2 free throws with 1:45 left, but Daemen came up empty on its next possession and Queens took an 80-77 lead following a layup by senior Malik Bentinck with 59 second left. Glover again made two free throws with 36 seconds left to make it a one-point game. Queens worked the shot clock and Diamond was off the mark with seven seconds left, but Bentinck collected the offensive rebound and was fouled. He made 1-of-2 free throws and Fasoyiro grabbed the rebound of the miss but could not get a shot off before the final horn. The game featured 49 personal fouls and 58 free throws. Daemen shot just 32-percent (9-for-28) in the second half and finished 23-for-59 (39%) from the field overall. The Wildcats connected on just 4-of-19 three-pointers. Daemen established a season-high for free throws made (29) and attempted (34) in a game. Queens finished 28-of-72 (39%) from the field overall and made just 9-of-26 from downtown. The Knights canned 16-of-24 from the charity stripe. NEXT JUMP BALL Daemen is idle until Dec. 19 when the Wildcats host Franklin Pierce University in a non-conference game.
