Wildcats Sweep Bearcats In Battle Of Nationally-Ranked Teams

LATROBE, Pa. - The Daemen University women's bowling team won all three games of a dual match with Saint Vincent College tonight. The match took place at Lincoln Lanes.

Both teams are ranked in the National Tenpin Coaches Association (NTCA) Division II/III Poll, which was released earlier today. Daemen is ranked 11th, while SVC is ranked 13th.

The Wildcats opened the match with a 961-848 win, and then followed up with 951-791 victory in game two. Daemen completed the sweep with a 1,039-1,009 win in game three. Games one and two were scored using the traditional match format, while game three was scored using Baker format.

Daemen is now 32-22 on the year, while the host Bearcats dropped to 31-5. The teams have met 20 times since the start of 2017-18 season and Daemen owns a 13-7 advantage in the all-time series.

HIGHLIGHTS
  • Senior Paige Bartosz (West Seneca, N.Y.) also took part in all three games and totaled a team-high 432 pins (216.0 average) during the traditional matches. She rolled a 231 in game one and followed up with a 201 in game two.
  • Junior Mollie Gizicki (Brighton, Mich.) also played in all three matches and totaled 418 pins (209.0 average) during the traditional matches. She posted a 202 in game one and a 216 in game two.
  • Senior Caitlyn Nowak (West Seneca, N.Y.) and graduate student Christina Aldridge (Webster, N.Y.) also competed in all three games. Nowak rolled a 193 in game one and totaled 363 pins (181.5 average) during the traditional matches. Aldridge posted a 191 in game one and totaled 358 pins (179.0 average) during the traditional matches.
  • Senior Nicole Bergeron (Lima, N.Y.) and freshman Kayla Richardson (Webster, N.Y.) also saw action today. Bergeron took part in game two and three and rolled a 197 in game two. Richardson posted a 144 in game one.
  • SVC posted a 217-208 win in game one of the Baker match, before Daemen answered with a 187-162 win in game two. Daemen held a slim 597-593 lead after three games, and SVC opened up an 801-772 lead after the Bearcats posted a 208-175 win in game four. Daemen saved its best for last, as the Wildcats posted a 267-208 win in game five to secure the win.
UP NEXT
Daemen will remain in Latrobe and take part in the Brother Patrick Lacey Memorial Tournament tomorrow. Saint Vincent is the tournament host. Daemen has participated in the tournament each of the last four years (tournament was not held in 2021 due to COVID-19) and has claimed the tournament title three times (2018, 2019 and 2022).
