Decatur And Bacher Collect ECC Weekly Honors Decatur Named Offensive Player of the Week, Bacher Tabbed as Top Rookie 2/27/2023 3:39:00 PM By: CONTACT: Tom McDermott, Director of Athletics Communications | tmcdermo@daemen.edu AMHERST, N.Y. – Daemen University women's lacrosse players Casey Decatur (Apollo Beach, Fla.) and Dana Bacher (Hamburg, N.Y.) have been honored by the East Coast Conference for their play last week. Decatur was selected the ECC Women's Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week, while Bacher was named the ECC Women's Lacrosse Rookie of the Week. The announcement of award winners was made via the league's weekly sport report which was released this afternoon. 2023 is the inaugural season for Daemen women's lacrosse and Decatur and Bacher become the first players in program history to earn a major weekly;y honor for the the ECC. Daemen played the first game in program history yesterday at Lake Erie College, and Decatur and Bacher led the Wildcats to a 14-10 victory. Decatur totaled a game-high seven points (three goals, four assists) to lead Daemen to the historic win. Her third goal gave Daemen a 13-9 lead after LEC had rallied with three unanswered goals to make it a three-goal game (12-9) late in the fourth quarter. The seven points are the most in a game by an ECC player so far this season. She also recorded a game-high eight shots and collected three ground balls. Decatur was a three-year member of the women's lacrosse team at St. Bonaventure University (2018-20) prior to Daemen. Bacher scored a game-high five goals to lead Daemen to a 14-10 win over Lake Erie. She scored all five goals in the first half to lead the Wildcats to a 10-3 halftime lead. Shetted the five goals on just six total shots and also recorded a caused turnover. Bacher is a junior academically, but since she has never played in a collegiate game she qualifies as a first-year player and is thus eligible for rookie of the week honors. She was a four year member of the girl's lacrosse team at Hamburg High School. Daemen returns to action tomorrow (Feb. 28) when the Wildcats play their first ever home game against Walsh University. The Wildcats will play their five home games at the Medaille Sports Complex at Buffalo Color Park while Daemen awaits construction of the West Royal Park athletic complex.
