The game was tied at 2-2 late in the first quarter, but the Wildcats closed out the first quarter scoring with goals by Decatur and freshman Avery Castner (Penn Yan, N.Y.) to take a 4-2 lead into the second quarter. Decatur's third goal of the first half with 9:54 left before halftime gave Daemen a 7-3 lead, but the Wildcats went scoreless the rest of the half and Daemen took a 7-4 lead into halftime. The teams traded goals early in the third quarter and the Daemen lead was 8-5 when the Eagles rallied with three unanswered goals. The teams headed into the final quarter tied at 8-8. Ashland took a 9-8 lead after graduate student Isabelle Pisani scored a man-up goal with 11:22 left to play, and the hosts scored again just 27 seconds later to take a 10-8 lead. Daemen cut the lead to a goal after sophomore Camryn Day (Hamburg, N.Y.) scored with just over seven minutes left. Daemen had one last chance to force overtime when the Wildcats were awarded a free position chance with seven seconds left, but the attempt by freshman Kylie Miranto (North Tonawanda, N.Y.) was blocked by a defender and time expired. Freshman Blair Pfohl (Lockport, N.Y.) went the distance in net for Daemen and made seven saves. Bouley led the Wildcats with six draw controls, while Pfohl collected a team-high three ground balls. Daemen posted a 27-20 advantage in total shots and a 21-17 edge in shots on goal. Daemen finished with an 14-7 edge in draw controls.
