RINDGE, N.H. -- The Daemen University men's tennis team dropped a non-league match to Franklin Pierce University, falling 5-2 to the Ravens at the FPU Tennis Courts on Sunday evening. The Wildcats drop to 5-16 on the season, while Franklin Pierce improves to an 5-11 overall record.

The Daemen senior team of Phillip Vance (Orchard Park, N.Y.) and Zachary Laplante (Ottawa, Ont.) picked up a 6-3 win in No. 2 doubles, but that would be the only doubles victory of the day for the Wildcats. Franklin Pierce earned the first point of the match taking two of the three pairings, as per NCAA Division II scoring rules.

Daemen freshman Rohan Chitanand (Den Haag, Netherlands) defeated Orlando Guerrero in No. 4 singles (0-6, 6-4, 6-4), and Laplante finished the day with another victory, topping Joshua Arnold (6-2, 1-6, 11-9) in No. 5 singles, but their efforts would not be enough on the day. The Ravens took the singles matches 1 through 3 and N. 6 singles to win the match, 5-2. 

The Wildcats return to the court for their final non-league match of the season on Monday in a 1 PM start against the Southern New Hampshire Penmen. Daemen kicks off the postseason in the East Coast Conference tournament next weekend in Flushing, N.Y.
