Men's Tennis Falls In Doubleheader At STAC

SPARKILL, N.Y. – The Daemen University men's tennis team fell to undefeated St. Thomas Aquinas in a doubleheader on Sunday afternoon, 7-0 and 6-1. With the pair of losses, the Wildcats move to 4-13 on the year and 0-4 in East Coast Conference play. STAC remains perfect on the year with a 14-0 overall record and 4-0 in ECC action.

MATCH #1
The Wildcats avoided a doubles sweep, with the No. 1 doubles pairing of Alex Lumanog (Albuquerque, N.M.) and Luis de Vuyst (Antwerp, Belgium) topping STAC's Odysseas Papaioannou and Ludovico Truffelli, 6-4. The Spartans would win the No. 2 and No. 3 doubles groupings to take the first point of the match as per NCAA Division II scoring rules. St. Thomas Aquinas took all six singles matches to win the first match of the doubleheader, 7-0.

MATCH #2
The Spartans swept doubles play in the second match of the doubleheader to earn the first point. Lumanog was the sole winner in singles play for Daemen, topping Truffelli, 8-5, in No. 1 singles play. STAC would go on to win the next five singles matchups to take the second match of the doubleheader, 6-1.
