Miranto Named ECC Rookie of the Week Decatur Named To Weekly Honor Roll 4/3/2023 3:59:00 PM By: CONTACT: Tom McDermott, Director of Athletics Communications | tmcdermo@daemen.edu AMHERST, N.Y. – Kylie Miranto (North Tonawanda, N,.Y.) of the Daemen University women's lacrosse team has been honored by the East Coast Conference for her play last week. Miranto was selected the ECC Women's Lacrosse Rookie of the Week. The announcement of award winners was made via the league's weekly sport report which was released this afternoon. It marks the first time this season Miranto has been selected Rookie of the Week and the fourth time that a player from Daemen has earned the award this season. Junior Dana Bacher (Hamburg, N.Y.) is a three-time ECC Rookie of the Week selection. Miranto becomes the first student-athlete (not including cross country/track & field) from Daemen to collected a major weekly award for the ECC in two different sports. Also a member of the Daemen women's soccer team, she was a two-time ECC Women's Soccer Rookie of the Week selection this past fall and was also named third-team all-conference. Daemen, which is playing its inaugural season, played just one game last week and posted a 23-7 win at the University of the District of Columbia in their first-ever East Coast Conference game. Daemen ran its winning streak to three-straight games and is now 5-2 over its last seven games. Miranto registered her first career three-goal hat trick in the game and also assisted on three goals. A product of North Tonawanda High School, Miranto has started all 11 games this spring and has totaled seven goals, five assists and 12 points. She also ranks third on the team in both ground balls (22) and caused turnovers (9). Graduate student Casey Decatur (Apollo Beach, Fla.) totaled nine points (3 gls, 6 asts) in the win over UDC and was named to the weekly ECC honor roll. A two-time ECC Offensive Player of the Week selection, she has totaled 26 goals, 30 assists and 56 points. She leads the ECC in assists (30) and ranks second in points (56). Bacher leads the team and ranks fifth among the league leaders in goals (31), while sophomore Camryn Day (Hamburg, N.Y.) has totaled a league-high 72 draw controls. Daemen (6-5, 1-0 ECC) plays just one game this week, as it plays host to Molloy University on Saturday. The Lions (9-3, 3-0 ECC) have won nine straight games and posted a huge 14-13 overtime victory over defending conference champion and No. 13 ranked Mercy this past weekend. Molloy is receiving votes in this week's Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Division II poll.
