Friday's game against Assumption will be played at Dobson Field in downtown Buffalo. Match time is 8 p.m. Sunday's game will be played at Karrer Field on the campus of The Park School in Amherst, N.Y. Match time is 11 a.m. THE WILDCATS Daemen returns 19 players from last year and welcomes eight newcomers (six freshmen, two transfers) to the 2023 roster. Daemen went 5-1-1 over its final seven games last fall and earned its second-straight bid to the four-team East Coast Conference (ECC) Championship tournament. The Wildcats suffered a 2-0 loss to eventual champion Mercy College in the semifinals. Daemen is ranked fourth in the 2023 ECC preseason coaches' poll. Five of the top six scorers return to the fold, including All-ECC selections Alyssa Diaz (Rochester, N.Y.), Tatyjana Scalisi (Williamsville, N.Y.) and Kylie Miranto (North Tonawanda, N.Y.). Diaz, a junior forward, has earned all-conference honors in each of her first two seasons and totaled a team-high seven goals and 16 points last year. Scalisi has also collected All-ECC honors the past two seasons and has totaled nine goals and 28 points over her career. Miranto started 15 of 17 games as freshman last year and ranked second on the team in goals (5) and points (11). Dolan must also find a replacement for two-time all-conference goalkeeper Tori DeLappi (Medina, Ohio), who started 13 games and posted a 1.62 goals against average as a senior last year. Sophomore Becca Schultz (Grand Island, N.Y.), who appeared in six games last year as a rookie, and junior college transfer Jenna Vath (Foster City, Calif.) will challenge for the starting job this year. Vath earned first team All-Coast Conference honors last year at Cañada College. HOME SWEET HOME Daemen will play five of its first seven games at home. The Wildcats are 9-4-1 at home over the last two seasons. THE GREYHOUNDS Assumption is a NCAA Division II member of the Northeast-10 Conference (NE-10). Head coach Chip Warner is entering his third season. The Greyhounds went 5-6-6 overall (4-5-3 NE-10) last year and lost to Franklin Pierce in the opening round of the NE-10 Tournament. They were picked seventh in the 2023 NE-10 preseason poll. Warner returns four of the top five scorers from last season, including senior forward Kate Carlson (5 gls, 2 asts) and sophomore forward Haley Brown (3 gls, 4 asts). Carlson was a third team all conference pick last year, while Brown was named to the NE-10 all-rookie team. SERIES HISTORY Friday's contest will mark just the second all-time meeting between Daemen and Assumption. The teams played to a 2-2 draw last year at Assumption in the first-ever meeting. Alyssa Diaz and Tatyjana Scalisi scored the Wildcats. THE YELLOW JACKETS American International is a NCAA Division II member of the Northeast-10 Conference (NE-10). Head coach Stephanie Gordon is entering her second season. The Yellow Jackets went 5-8-3 overall (3-7-2 NE-10) last year and did not qualify for the NE-10 Tournament. They were picked 10th in the 2023 NE-10 preseason poll. Gordon returns four of the top five scorers from last season, including junior forward Charlotte Bernard (3 gls) and sophomore midfielder/forward (2 gls). Sophomore goalkeeper Avery Lein (2.04 GAA) returns after starting four games as a rookie. SERIES HISTORY Sunday's contest will mark the first-ever meeting between the the Wildcats and the Yellow Jackets. UP NEXT Daemen is idle until Sept. 12 when it travels to Albany, N.Y. to face nationally-ranked Saint Rose in a non-conference game.
