It also marked the first dual match of 2023-24 for the host Tigers. The match was played under NCAA Division III rules and Daemen held a 2-1 lead after three close doubles matches. Daemen prevailed at No. 1 and No.2 doubles, while the Tigers took No. 3 doubles. Daemen's No.1 doubles team of sophomore Alex Lumanog (Albuquerque, N.M.) and junior Juan Alvarez (Puebla, Mexico) outlasted RIT's Alec Turcotte and Gabriel Escobar, 8-6. Sophomore Rohan Chitanand (Den Haag, Netherlands) and freshman Lasse Mergens (Bochum, Germany) posted an 8-5 win over Max Chang and Luke Weber at second doubles. RIT picked up its point after Grahith Movva and Anthony Lounder defeated fifth-year senior Luis de Vuyst (Antwerp, Belgium) and graduate student Zachary Laplante (Ottawa, Ontario) at third doubles. RIT opened up a 4-2 lead after opening singles play with wins at No. 4, No. 6 and No. 1. Chang defeated Mergens (6-2, 6-0) at No. 4, Lounder beat Laplante (6-3, 6-0) at No. 6 and Movva downed Lumanog (6-4, 6-2) at No. 1. Daemen cut the lead to 4-3 after de Vuyst rallied to defeat Turcotte (3-6, 6-3, 6-2) at No. 2 singles, but the Tigers sealed the win after Escobar outlasted Alvarez (3-6, 7-5, 6-2) at No. 3 singles. The most exciting match of the night came after the team outcome was decided, as Chitanand won a marathon match (7-6 (7-3), 3-6, 7-6 (7-3) over Verosh Javenetti at No. 5 singles. It marks the second-straight year the Wildcats and Tigers have staged a classic match. Daemen prevailed, 4-3, over RIT last season in Williamsville, N.Y.
